THURSDAY, AUGUST 27, 1958 LOCALS The Rev. R. Peyton, and Mrs. Peyton, of Maryville, Tennessee, were callers at the Presbyterian Manse the other day. Mr. Peyton is Field Director for the Presby terian Board of Christian Educat ion. - Miss Joan Reeve who has been spending the last two or three weeks with her parents, Rev. and Mrs. Warren S. Reeve, is return ing to Philadelphia today. She will resume her teaching at Lebanon Valley College when term opens later in September. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Powell and sons, Bill and Paul, of Statesville and Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Styles and son,'- Dean, of Ammityville, N. Y .returned home last week after visiting relatives here. Miss Irma Jo Tipton of Durham returned home Thursday. She has been visiting her mother, Mrs. Sam Tipton, of Bald Creek. Miss Tipton has been a student at Duke University and also worked in Duke Hospital. She will be! in charge" of the Infirmary at Greensboro College beginning September 14th., anjl will be a student at Greensboro College. She had as her guest over the week-end Mr Edd Marroh of Greensboro and her son, Do nald Tipton, of the Charleston Air Force Base in South Carolina. Mrs. Paul Kardulis and family) of Baltimore, Md. is visiting her mother, Mr. C. O. Brinkley, this week. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth McCurry of Ohio are visiting relatives here this week. Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Bennett and daughter, Mrs. Lee Wiseman of Statesville and Mr. and Mrs. Jennings Goforth and son, of Moueville, Ind. were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Pender Bennett Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. E. Petrone of New York City are visiting Mrs. Petrone’s mother, Mrs. R. W. Ramsey, here. Mrs. Ramsey also had as her guests last week Billy Ramsey of the U. S. The ceremony was performed, by the Rey- R. M. Cassity and the Rev. J„_R. Dawkins. Mrs. Mer ritt Robinson was vocalist and Mrs. Max Poteat was pianist. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Frank Boone of Newdale and the late Mr. Boone. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Baker of Spruce' Pine. Given in marriage by her- bro ther, Merritt Robinson, the bride was attired in a floor length gown of wliite satin and Florentine. a veil of illusion and carried a bouquet of white and yellow rose buds. , Miss Shelby, Cave of Dobson, former college roommate of the bride, was maid of honor. She* wore a yellow silk dress, match ing headdress and carried long stemmed white roses. Comfort suffered minor injuries to his leg in try ing to gain control of his car when it rolled downward on a slope while he was visiting his I brother Harrison’s family recently. Suley entertained at a buffet sup per Sunday, August 9th- Their guests were Mr. and Mrs. Carl Braznell, of Naples, Fla;, and Hendersonville, N. C.; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Merrill of Miami and Hendersonville; also, Misses Daisy and Betty Reese of Golden Beach, Fla. It was a happy reunion of old friends, with opportunities for indulging in enjoyable past memories, while drinking in the beauty of “Blue Horizons” the lovely home of the Suleys. The Suleys also gave an in formal luncheon on Sunday, Aug ust 16th as a farewell to Miss Gwendolyn Potter, and a “wel come home” to Mrs. Angell.
