other leaders, all club members
are welcome. Coffee will be
served to registrants as they
convene at 9:30 and luncheon will
be served in the Pisgah Room of
the Battery Park Hotel.
The Institute is really a work
shop for club leaders, where they
learn the state federated program
and adapt it to their local needs.
District Department Chairmen,
who recently attended Council
Institute in Greensboro will pre
sent the Federation Program. The
local c'ub presidents will be in
structed by the district presi
dent. Ample time will be given
for questions nnd answers.

Rev. Louis Inman will assume
the pastorate of the Church of
God of Prophecy in Burnsville on
August®!.
Michael L. Johnson, the pre
sent pastor, was transferred to
Burlington, W. C. by appoint
ment of the State Overseer at the
State Convention in High Point.
Rev. Inman, with his wife Mary
and three children, will be mov
ing to Burnsville from Waynes
ville where he served as pastor.
Group Ministry
To Meet At
Martin’s Chapel
The Yancey, County Group
Ministry will meet at Martins
Chapel Methodist Church at New
dale on August 2. There will be a
picnic lunch at 1:00 p. m.
The program will begin at
2:00 p. m. and will consist of a
panel with the Rev. Tom Rutledge
as moderator and the Yancey
County Group ministry on the
panel. The program subject will
be ‘-Together For Christ.”’

Annual Picnic
The anual picnic of the Burns
ville Men’s Club was held Mon-J
day July 27 at 7:00 p. m. on the
grounds of the Community Build

Dr. Henry W. Jenson, Dean of
Warren Wilson College, gave a
delightful program singing his
Broom Sage Ballads. Dr. Jenson
is a graduate of Harvard Univer
sity. He has witten many folk
songs and entertained the group
with some of his own composi
tions as well as with the old
familiar ballads.
The North Carolina Volunteers
from Mitchell and Yancey Coun
ties attended the picnic. They
were Introduced by Mayor Rob
ert Hehnle, and he explained
some of the things they were
doing in the two counties.

Lion Shepherd will be the third
Deputy District Governor that has
been eleetd from Yancey Coun
ty. E. L. Dillingham and Yates
Bailey have served in this capa
city. Sheperd was Zone Chairman
of Lions last year.
Lion Sheperd was appointed to
Deputy District Governor by Dis
trict Govfcrnlar Bob Davis. This
is he highest appointed position
in the district.
