TAYLOR DISCUSSES RECREATION FEES WITH UDALL WASHINGTON Plata to charge a fee for picnicking in fed ral recreation areas in Western North • Carolina are being re-examined. Congress man Roy A. Taylor said here Friday. Edward C. Crafts, director of the Bureau of Outdoor Recrea tion, has assured Taylor that the entire national recreation fee system is being studied. He promiser the Congressman that consideration will be given to a more reasonable approach to the policy on picnic fees. A recent announcement by agencies under Crafts' direc tion of intentions to charge fifty cents per adult for pic nicking brought an angry re action from Rep. Taylor. He sent protests to the agen cies involved. He charged that fees for picnicking was con trary to the legislative intent of Congress. Taylor discussed the matter personally with Interior Secre tary Udall. He enlisted the sup port of Rep. Wayne Aspinall, Chairman of the House Inter ior Committee, who introduc ed the bill. He has also gained the sup port of North Carolina’s Sena tors and other Congressmen. tinder a portion of the law written by Rep.
