Proverbs 20:1. Drinks containing alcohol are on. a sharp rise in Ameri ca. I would like for you to noti e that our own part of th! j nation is under the in fluence of alcohol. I am not going to say STOP drinking because YOU must make that decision for your self. I should like to point out several things about alcohol. I have tried to find just one good point in drinking alco hol, but that point is not to be found. I will invite ANY person to point out any good effects of consuming alcohol. Even doctors will agree with what I have said in this ar ticle. And if you would like to have proof-of this I can fur nish it. Ifor the Very Best food SPECIALS - Thvrs., FrL, Sat. This is far from truth. In stead of being a stimulate it is a DEPRESSANT. Now I have given you something to argue about You may think that I don’t know, what I am talking about. You can bring up the argument that alcohol IS a stimulant because whenj a person is drunk he will talk more,, sing, fight, laugh and be ful of pep. The answer is this: a human brain has dif ferent parts, each of these parts has control over certain other body parts. There is a center in the brain that con trols vis’on. When we see something our eyes pick up the irfiage and send this in formation to the part of our brain that is responsible for our vision. For an example, we may be walking along a road, and out in front of us we see a hole in the road. This hole may be deep or wide and we can’t cross it. Our eyes pick up the image and flash the message to the brain, the part of the brain that receives this image th r n flashes a sig nal to another part of the brain which in turn tells our legs to stop. Our brain controls our body. It makes no difference what the movements are that we make other than reflexes, our br-Mn is in control. > Then: is another part of the brain. In this part we have a general control center. This control center actually con trols the other parts of the brain. This is like a control room In a radio station. Things originating in other studios are controlled from the .control room. This , control center Is actually depressed from alcohol, thus, letting the other parts run free. This is like letting the brakes off an auto. The car does not have any extra energy but only ap pears to have. Alcohol is ‘ a cerebral de pressant. It depresses in pro gressive order in the brain. The higher'“‘functions, such as reason and judgment are af fected before movements are. N-xt week: Alcohol, Accur-, acy and Insanity.
