Mr. and Mrs. William Davis of Asheville visited relatives here last week-end. Mrs. Clyde W. Edwards and daughter, Sybil, and Miss Gall Edwards, daughte- of Mr. and Mrs. Reece Edwards, all of Burnsville left Saturday, May, 29 for a vacation in Myrle Beach, S. C. They will stay at the Cabana Apartments in Myrtle Beach. They plan to visit several points of inter est while there, including the b# autiful Brookgreen Gard ens, Crecent * Beach, Murils Inlet, Pawley’s Island, the famous Sea Captains House with exte ior decor and fur nishing of Seafarers, some dating as far back as the days of the Vikings. Included will be a moonlight ocean cruise, a day of deep sea fishing and possibly a tour of the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base. They wil return home Sunday, June 6. Mr. and Mrs. Stanton Nor ris of Tallahasee, Fla visited her parents. Mr. and M~s. Mark Bennett, here recently. Norman Ray Is home from State College, Raleigh for summer vacation. Mrs. Earlene Styles of Char lotte was visiting in Burns ville last week. Doyle Styles returned to Charlotte with her where he plans to work this summer. . Obituaries JACK BRINKLEY Jack Brinkley, 44, a native of Yancey County, died Wed nesday in’ a hospi'ta' in Mori ticello, Ga, where he j had lived for the past 11 years. He was a World War II veteran and was connected with the Feldspar Corp., which has operations in Mon ticello and In North Carolina. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Jennie Brinkley; two daughters, Mrs. Ronald Mor gan of Athens, Ga., and Miss Sabra Brirkl<?y of the home; a son. Jackie- B inkley of the home; the mother, Mrs. Ber tha Wright Brinkley of Bur nsville; four sistc-s, Mrs. Reece Roberts of Weaverville, Mrs Ren aid Wi'son of Mar shall, Mrs. Tommy Robinson of Micaville, and Mrs. Edgar Ball of Monticello, Ark ; and two b others, Clyde of Burns ville and Reece Brinkley of Bakersville. Services were held at 11 a. m. Friday in Monticello Bap tist Church. [ Mi. and Mrs. Douglas Led ford and son, of Hampton, Va. and Mrs. Addle Blevins of Hickory were visiting rela tives and friends here Mon day MRS. ELLA LAWS Mrs. Ella Laws, 64, of Bur nsville, died Sunday morning at her home following a long illness. Surviving are the husband, Wa’tcr Laws; four daughters, Mrs. Fred Honeycutt of Relief and Mrs.. Ivan McCurry. Mrs. Junior Ball and Miss Mary Laws of Burnsville Rt. 1; seven sons, Roscoe, Albert,, Zeph, Ralph and Rassle of Bu msville and Paul and Ray mond of Johnson City, Tenn ; a sister, Mrs. George Henson of Green Mountain; and 21 grandchildren. Services were held Tuesday at 2 p. m In Green Mountain Free Will Baotist Church. The Rev. Charlie Miller of ficiated and burial was in Bailey Hill Cemetery. ELMER RIDDLE Services for Elmer Riddle, 73. of Pensacola community, who difed Sunday, were hell Tuesday at 2 p. m. in Laurel Branch Baptist Church. The Rev. Ralph Mumpower officiated and burial was In Riddle Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ben, Eob, Jim and Way ne Riddle, Billie 8., Lawrence and Bill Wilson. Mr. Riddle was a native of Yancey County and a farmer. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Belva Robertson of Black Mountain; and three brothers, Quillen, Carlisle and Kermit Riddle of Pensacola. THURSDAY, JUNE 3. 1965 GEORGE HENSON George Henson, 70, of Green Mountain Rt. 1, died Monday night in a Burnsville hospital following a long illness-. Surviving a e the widow, Mrs Missouri Ray Henson; three sisters, Mrs. Martha Kirby of Marion, Mrs. Bertha Hensley cf BurnSVille Rt. 5, and Mrs. Alice Carrol: of , Burnsville Rt. 2; and a bro ther, Cling Henson of Burns -ville Rt. 6. , - Services were held Wednes day at 2 p. m. in Pleasant Gap Baptist Church, of which he was a. member. The Rev. L-yda Ray offi ciated and burial was In Gibbs Cemetery in Celo. Girl Scouts On Trip The Burnsville Senior Girl Scouts left early Monday morning for Atlantic Beach. N. C. where they are spend ing this week through the courtesy 1 of Mrs Roger Gant who loaned them her beach house for the week. Adults accompanying the Scouts are: M s. Loy McCurry, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Butner, Mrs. Harlon Holcombe, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Hall and Mrs. Harvey Price. Scouts who went are Debra McCurry, Janice Hants, Trula Huskey, Lynn Butner, Sandra Fox, Jean Holcombe, Libby McNeil, Betty Copper, Patri cia Burton. Cathy Price, Sharon Young, Ruth Price, Mary and Erwin Burhoe The girls will return home Saturday.
