Most farmers here that are in the field of corn business are beginning to “hoe" their corn. One farmer here said, and we quote him saying, “I have been hoeing com for 40 yea-s nearly, and the field I’ve been hoeing - com in this year is the hard est I’ve ever seen”. Occassioit ally the field was sowed in fescue grass! Meadows here in this sec tion this year are full jwfth growth of good hay. The far mers wonder why the grass grew so la~re since they s*»y there wasn’t too much rain early in the spring? Hay is the best it has been in many years this season in this mountainous section. Floyd Miller of Pigeon Roost was here last week. It was his first visit here in several months. A nice preclpation fell here last Tuesday, Wed., and Thur sday. Approximately one inch of rain fell here last week, according to the weather philosophy. t• • • Here we find some signifi cant inventions t o read about. 1842 Bicycle was in vented; 1877 Microphone was invented; 1877 was the year the Electric welding equip ment was Invented; 1879 Cash Register; 1880 was the year when the Linotype was in vented; Kodak was invented in the year of 1888; 1450-55 the Bible was first printed at Mentz; 1478 Caxton set up his printing press; 1535 the fi-st English Bible printed; The first newspaper in America* was at Boston, the year ofw 1690; 1814 the printing mach-1 ine invented; 1846 sewing! machine was made; 1876 prof.
