That’s how many people ' came to Roan Mountain Saturday and Sunday to lot* at the world famous Rhododendron Gar den atop Roan Mbuntaln dur ing the 18th annual Tennessee rhododendron festival. The purple rhododendron was at Its peak and everyone who came marveled at the world’s 1 argest natural ' Rhododendron Gardens. The flowers, atop this magnlf leant mountain are unmatched in brilliance anywhere on earth and the thousands marveled at the deep purple among the dark green fir trees and went away again wondering at nature’s wonderful masterpiece. And If flwers alone were not enough beauty, there were thirteen beautiful girls, each competing fnr the title jft Miss Rhododendron. * If you have never been to Roan Mountain during the rhododendron bloom, I advise you to see it for yourself. I you will not be dis appointed. And if you wish to more than the natural beauty, twenty one lovely girls will comoeffe again this weekend to see who will be Miss North Carolina Rhodod erdrnn of 1065 The North Carolina Rhododendron Queen will be crowned on Roan Mountain this Saturday, June 26. She was editor of the school paper and business manager of the yearbook. Anna Margaret is the grand daughter of Mrs. A. P. Hen sley of Bwlss and the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. A. W.
