WESTWARD HO! Continued
er and road swerve to the
east and to the left of Mt.
Hood, but only for a time,
then back to the right for
miles around the preclptuous
face of the mountain Itself,
at last coming to Timberline
Lodge which Is as far as one
can go by car, passing as wo
did the chair lifts used by the
skiers.
From the parking area, we
could discern the city of
Portland drowsing in a sea of
mist, but had to look through
shaded glasses, because the
sun was shining and the glare
on this world of snow was
blinding.
In the spacious lobby of the
Lodge we bought souvenirs,
and were amused to see gangs
of skiers coming In for re
freshments .
If you are ever In this land
of perpetual snow, turn back
the pages of the register to
July 3rd 1966 and you will
Tind the name of Ye Olde
Scribe.
Come along next week and
we shall see the rugged
breakers wearing away at
Oregon’s rugged coast.
