- CANE RIVER HIGHLIGHTS. By: Judy Ledford and Cherri Peterson On Thursday, September 30, Cane River High School had its Homecoming. Due to the rain the crowning of the Queen was held in the gym nasium. Miss Joyce Chandler and Basil Bailey were crowned Mr. and Miss Cane River High Joyce is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Chand ler" and Basil is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bailey. The Queen’s Court consists of Miss Pat Letterman with Richard Buckner as escort, senior class; Sandra Buckner with David McCurry as es cort, junior- class; Judy Wes tall with Earmel Wheeler as escort, sophomore class; Martina Evans with Willie Jobe as escort, freshman class Cane River is very pleased with the new reigning queen and king and their cou t Be fore and after the crowning of the queen the audience was entertained by the Harris High School band, and even though it rained the ba'd played on and the school spirit remained high.
