Behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call h's name Je sus (Lk. 1-31); Mary said to the Angel, how shall this thing be seeing I know not a man? The Angel answered and. the- Hoif - 'Ghost shall " come upon thee, and the power of the highest shall overshadow thee. Therefore also that Holy thing wh'ch shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God; (Lk. 1-35); Al so Christ was to be bom in the City of David, or Bethle hem. And so it was, on that memorable night in Bethle hem, Mary -brought forth her first bom Son, and lay ed Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the Inn. Did you know neighbor there is many Inns, or homes today, where there is no room for Jesus. There’s room for drinking, room for gambling, room for enter tainment, but no room for Jesus. Let us also remember that on the night of his birth, there was in the same country, Shepherds watch ing over their flocks by night. And 10, the Angel of the Lord came upon them. And the Glory of the Lord shone around about them, and they were sore afraid. But the Angel said fear not, for behold I bring you good | B . TOWN & WINTRY SHOE STORE THEPORIS SHOPPE The First Christmas & From cover to cover the Bible is full of some of the most excit ing stories the jivorld has ever known. Through the centuries these stories have been passed along to our children, for through Bible stories children learn many lessons about their religion and its application in their daily lives. At this particularly meaning ful time of year, the most famous Bible story of all—the birth of the Christ child—will be told through out the world. Christian parents want their children to become familiar with the story as it is told in the New Testament, but often the language of the Bible is difficult for a child to under stand. Children’s hooks, designed to bridge the gap in a child’s understanding of Bible stories, are ideal supplementary reading for youngsters. One of the latest in the new series of religious childrenis books put out by Arch- Books is called “Little Benjamin and the First Christmas.” In language a child can understand and with Colorful illustrations, the book tells about 'the- eeming of the Christ child the way a small Jewish boy of Jesus’ time would have seen it. Benjamin was the son of the innkeeper whose stable became the birthplace of the Christ child. The story tells how Benjamin showed Mary and Joseph the way to the stable and piled fresh hay for them to sleep on, how he was awakened in the night by a very bright star and how the shep herds told him that the Messiah had come to earth to bring peace. From a story like this, a child can understand the humble begin nings of the ‘ Prince of Peace.” Many children are learning about Bible stories through the Archßooks, which sold their mil lionth copy this Christmas sea son. When children read stories such as the one about little Ben jamin, parents then may want to read to their children, or help them read it themselves, the story of Jesus’ birth in the Bible (Luke 2:1-20).
