TO BOARD OF N.C.
AGRI. FOUNDATION

At the annual meeting
held in Raleigh on Novem
ber 23rd, O. W. Deyton was
elected to serve a four year
term on the Board of Direc
tors of the North Carolina
Agricultural Foundation, and
also a four-year term on
the Executive Committee.
The Agricultural Founda
tion program was started in
North Carolina to support
a broad program of research,
teaching, and extension ac
tivities in the School of Ag
riculture and Life Science at
No*-th Carolina State Uni
versity.
He received his BS De
gree in Agriculture from
Berea College, Berea, Ky.,
in 1939. Following gradua
’ tion he did graduate work
" for two years at N. C. State
University, majoring in Ani
mal Husbandry.
Mr. Deyton has worked
with the N. C. Extension
Service in Wilson and Mit
chell Counties, and was As
sstant Supervisor of Farm
ers Home Administration in
Yancey County. For the past
fifteen years he has been in
the Farm Supply business
In Burnsville.

Selling Tickets
On Beef
Tickets are presently
being sold by members of
ihe Burnsville Mens’ Club
for a drawing to be held at
4:00 p. m. on Friday after
noon .December 31, at the
side of the Information
House on the town square.
Each one-dollar ticket will
enable the holder to be eli
gible for a chance on half a
Swift premium beef, or
If the winner wishes, one
hundred dollars in cash
Proceeds from the drawing
will go to pay the balance
of $594.00 on a debt incurred
this past summer in the in
stallation of softball lighting
equipment on the Burnsville
Elementary School Field.
All told, eighteen different
softball teams played a full
schedule of games under the
lights in the months of July
and August.
Club officials view the op-’
eratlon as offering Yancey
County citizens an opportun
ity to make a minimum do
nation of one dollar to the
lighting project, with the In
centive of possibly winning
a free half of choice beef, or
the one hundred dollars In
cash
Mr. Deyton Is the son of
Mrs. R. C. Deyton and the
late Mr. Deyton of Green
Mountain. He Is married to
the former Mary Margaret
Robinson of Easley, South
Carolina. They are the par
ents of two daughters
Linda and Cathv.
