C. during the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Ar thur 111 of Arden visited her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Edw ard Buckner, here during the holidays. Mr. Sam McEwen of Er win, Tenn. suffered a heart attack around a month ago and is now in Mountain Home Veterans Hospital In Johnson City, Tenn. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Buckner and Charles Buckner and Mrs. Clyde Styles visited Mr. Mc- Eyen in Erwin several weeks ago. He is reported to be improved. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Sil vers and famiiy had a safe trip back to Maryland after spending Christmas holidays here with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Silvers and Mr. and Mrs. Vester Styles. Mr. and Mrs. John English and children of Hickory vis ited relatives here during the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Ike Laugh run had as their guests dur ing the holidays their dau ghter and family, T. Sgt. Cherry and children. Mrs. Kathryn McCurry of Holly wood, Calif, has been visiting her brother during the holi days. There have been sev eral dinner reunions in her honor. Dr. and Mrs. W. A. Laughrun had their Thanks giving dinner reunion at Christmas at their home at Lake James. McCurry entertained her brothers and their w’ives at a dinner at the Nu-Wray Inn during the holidays. Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Briggs of Alexandria, Va, Dr. and Mrs. W. A. Laugh run of Lake James, Mr. and Mrs. Seth Laughrun and sister, Mrs ' Jessie Mclntosh, cf Asheville, Mr. and Mrs. ' Ike Laughrun, Mr. and Mrs. Luke Laughrun, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Laughrun and daughter, Marilyn, and Ralph Laughrun of Burns ville. Mrs. McCurry returned to her home in Hollywood, Ca’lf. Tuessay. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Laughrun had as their guests, Mrs. Laughrun’s mo ther, Mrs. H. E. King and brother, James King, of Johnson City, Tenn. during the holidays. Dr. and Mrs. Garland Wampler and children have returned to their home here after visiting in Eastern N. C. during the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Stewart and boys returned to their home in Denver, Colorado Saturday after visiting rela tives here and in Spruce Pine during the holidays. Miss Lilian Presneil of Thomasville,' Ga. visited re latives here last week. She returned to Thomasville on Sunday. Mrs. Haskel Pres neil, also of Thomasv’lle, who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. Tommy Gibbs and family of Newdale dur ing the holidays, returned to Thomasville with Miss Presneil. Mrs. R. N. Silver has re turned to her home here after visiting her daughter, Mrs. Jack Rogers, and fam ily in Winston-Sslem during the holidays. Randal Patton spent the Chr’stmas holidays with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Hall of Newdale and Mrs. Florence Patton of Celo Randal is a freshman at Harvard Unlversltty. His. parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ar thur Patton,, Jr., live in Highland Park, Calif. Sgt. Westall Has Texas Duty AUSTIN, Tex. Technical Sergeant Lewis E. Westall, son of A. R. Westall who resides on Rt. 5, Burnsville, N. C., has arrived for duty at Bergstrom AFB, Tex. Sergeant Westall, a C-47 aircraft crew chief, previous ly, served at Lincoln APTB, Neb. He is assigned to the Strategic Ai r Command which keeps the free world’s mightiest missile and Jet bomber force ready to coun ter the enemy threat. The sergeant, & graduate of Mlcaville (N. C.) High School, attended Bumaville (N. C.) Evening College. His wife, Verlyn, is the daughter of Mrs. Creasey Rice of Erwin, Tenn. XXZbWfcR STARTING MONDAY, JANUARY 10 THE GINNY-USA SHOP Burnsville, N. C. Tipton - Hall Vows Spoken * * Miss Juanita Tipton and Lloyd Hall were married December sth. at the North Bend Baptist Church. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Tipton of Green Mountain and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hall, also of Gren Mountain. The Rev. Clyde Fender conducted the ceremony. Mrs. Lola Bailey was pianist. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal white satin gown trimmed with Chantilly lace, an illusion veil attached to a Lily of the Valley tiara and carried a white orchid on a white Bible. / Mrs. Oscar Tipton was maid of honor. She wore a street length green satin dress and carried yellow car nations. Miss Sonya Bailey, Mss Brenda Buchanan, and Mrs. Eloise Eamey served as bridesmaids. Flower girls were Tina Harris and Pansy Whitson. The ring-bearers were Cathy Peterson and Larry Hall. Stokes Austin served as best man. Oscar Tipton, Norris Gronto and U. B. Deyton were ushers. A reception followed the ceremony in the home of the bride’s parents. Mrs. Tipton chose a beige wool suit, black accessories and a pink carnation corsage. Mrs. Hall wore a rase wool suit, black accessories and a pink car nation corsage. The bride is a senior at Cane River High School. The bridegroom is a grad uate of Cane- River High School. He graduated from Catauba Valley Technical Institute in the fall of 1965 In Hickory. He is now serv ing in the armed services, stationed in Fort Hood, Tex. Mr. and Mrs. Hall went to Charleston, S. C. on their wedding trip. THU YANCEY RECORD HURCH Mk HEWS Higgins Memorial Methodist Church The Official Board will meet on Monday at 7:30 p. m. ,for their regular meeting. On Monday and Tuesday all Methodist Ministers in the Conference will be in High Point for the Western North Carolina Methodist Confer-, ence Ministers Retreat. The Commissional Finance will meet on Monday at 7:00 p. m Thursday there will be a combined meeting, the Com mission on Social Concern and the Commission of Edu cation. This meeting will be held at 8:00 p. m. On Friday the Commission of Evange lism will meet at 7:30 p. m. Rev. Warner will be In Gastonia on Friday where he will meet with the Exe cutive Committee of the Board of Ministerial Train ing and Qualifications. First Baptist Church The January Bible Study will begin in the First Bap tist Church on January 23 and run through January 27. It will be held from 7:30 to 9:00 p. m. each evening. This will be a graded study and books will be taught to each department beginning with the three-year olds. The nursery will be open each evening. More Fires in Winter NEW YORK - The winter months are the worst for fire losses, according to the Insur ance Information Institute. Al though other factors are involv ed, this is mainly the result of heating hazards.
