jr. ab^^ THIS IS THE GOSPEL * Ttie Christian Life, What* Is It? Text: 2 Cor. 5-17; “If any man be in Christ, he is a new Creation, all things are passed away, behold ali vh.ngs are become new.” It’s true that a Christian can be spotted anywhere, by their dress, their speech, and their light. Because a Chris tian is a light, he is an ex ample in everything, to the trans-ormlng power of God in his life. Our text implies that any one born again, in to God's family by His spirit is a new creation, or new creature. Old desires and bad habits will leave the Bible says “a little- Leaven, Leaveneth the whole Lump.” The Christ an life is first; A life of holiness; I Thess. 4-7 the Apostle said , ‘ For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but Unto Holi ness.” Also, I Cor. 7-1; “Therefore having rece ved the promises dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filtheness of the flesh and Spirit, perfecting Holi ress in the fear of God.” Holiness is more than just long dresses and long hair. I believe in that too, but holi ness is to be pure in heart, Math. 5-6, It’s _£asy to love ores friends, but holiness of "*heart will cauSe one to love their enemies. It will cause r->e to eive and not to take If everybody in the church today had this, mv; what a rebival would break out. Al so the Christian life is one of prayer. I T'm. 2-8; £‘l will therefore that men pray ev erywhere, lifting up Holy hands unto God ’ Also in -18, “Praying always with all Prayer and suppli cat:on in the Spirit, and watching thereunto W'th all perservance and supplication (•o-avor) all Points. Prayer is just as much a part of the Christian life and just as necessary for spirit va’ n.fe, as water or food is for the physical life The great amount of backsl'di n g in the church today can be traced to you want more victory and power to overcome pray more. Also, the Christian life is one of se’f den’al. A Christian cannot love the things of the worid and still love God, sav Amen. I Jn. 2-15. “I-ove NOT the world, or the things that are in the world. If any man love the world the love of the Father is not. in him” Also in Lk. 9-23; "If any man will coma after me let.h.m take up his cross naily and follow me.” In Luke 9-62; “He that put teth his hand to the p.ow and lojkcth back, is not fit for the Kingdom of God.” In Math. 10-37, “He that loveth Father or Mother THE YANCEY RECORD more than me, is not worthy of me." Truly the Christian must abstain from any thing that would take away from our spiritual life. This mes sage is not meant to con demn anyone, but to b.ess and to help you live closer to God. I really believe ac cording to the many Bible signs that Jesus is coming very soon now, and that he is also getting his people ready to leave this s'n cur sed earth for that celestial city where are you living today, my friend; have you thought about what would happen to you, if the Lord should come before you make preparation to meet Him? But you can be saved ’" right where you are, by repenting of your sins and believing on Statement Os Condition *’ Tfc * Cl# ‘* 01 31, IfiS THE W NORTHWESTERN BANK MEMBER federal deposit insurance corporation RESOURCES Ca«h and Due from Banks $ 23 37* ft7* 37 Bonds, Stock and Accrued Interest 84 871 353*83 „ ... 17c!569!290.37 Banking House*, Furniture and Fixtures— * D ® preClatlon 2,421,185.87 Other Asset* 237 340 on Other Real Estate - • ' * V S Customer's Liability Under Letter of Credit 369.93pjfifi TOTAL RESOURCES $281,844,977.21 LIABILITIES Deposits ' * 24 «. oco ..
