The club’s continued success is based on a dedi cated leadership that has prov'ded a satisfactory meet ing place, along with well planned and interesting pro grams. One of the main features of the program has been the snonsorshlp of an active 4-H club. Arbuckle Community Club is completing plans for a new community building. The club raised $250 on a horse show they co-sponsor ed with Newdale Community. The present building ser ves as a center for the Home Demonstration C’ub. Scouts, 4-H and other grouns in ad dition to the regular meeting place for the community club. Emphasis In the Commun ity Development Program is being extended to communi ties that have not previously been organized. This is part of the expanded program made possible by the addi tion cf an Assistant Exten sion Agent Kenneth Sancha grin and Mrs. Patricia An ders, .secretary. (Community Development Work continued on page 9) O. W. Deyton was elected Director of the Agricultural Foundation to represent Yancey County. Mr 4 Deyton will serve a four-year term and, along with other direc tors, will decide on policies and plans for spending the funds co’lected by the N. C. Agricultural Foundation thr ough the five cent per ton paid by farmers and others on fertilizers and feed pur chased. The Extension Office was asked to supervise the land scaping of the new court house grounds. Shrubbery and shade trees were set out and the lawn seeded to Ken tucky B’uegrass. The Exten sion Office was moved to the courthouse the last of June. The Recreation Fund Com mittee reported on the ticket sales for the light project on the Burnsville Elementary School ball field. The drawing for the beef will be Saturday, February 5. All purchased tickets should be In the drawing box at Ray Brothers Food Cen ter before the drawing. The committee announced that the drawing will be at the Chamber of Commerce build ing on the square in Burns ville Saturday afternoon, February 5. New members In the club are Kenneth Sanchagrln, George Perry, Jim Covington and David Powers. My Fnir Lady’ To Premiere In Asheville The cast of “My Fair Lady”, the motion picture which will have its Asheville premiere Feb. 1, is not only famous but one whose rating of ‘“brilliant” seems to draw no argument. The picture will be shown in the Plaza Theatre at 8:00 o’clock Tuesday, Feb. 1 as a special benefit performance with proceeds going to the College Scholarship Program of the Asheville Civitan Club Recipients of the scholar ships are selected among de serving high school seniors. Tickets may be . obtained by writing to the Asheville Civitan Club, P. O. Box 1221, Asheville, N. C. enclosing a self-addressed, stamped en velope. Tickets are also'av ailable from the Plaza Theatre.
