POLLING PLACES FOR BURLEY REFERENDUM DESIGNATED Polling places for the March 10 referendum on ac reage-poundage marketing quotas for the next three crops of hurley tobacco have been designated by the Yan cey County ASCS Committee as follows: East Burnsville, Yancey ABCS Office; West Burns ville, Carl Penlands Service Btatlon; Cane River, Prof fitt’s Btore; Upper Egypt, Lloyd Millers’ Store; Lower Egypt, Arthur Edwards’ Store; Ramsey town, Regular Polling Place; Green Moun tain, Regular Polling Place; Brush Creek, Community Building; Upper Jacks Creek Higgins’ Store; Lower Jacks Creek, Robert Whitson Store; East Crabtree, Woodrow Howell Store; West Crabtree, Dellinger & Silvers Store; Upper South Toe, Eugene Harrison Store; Lower South Toe, Emory Chrisawn Store; Pensacola, P. Highway Com Posts Load Limits RALEIGH The State Highway Commission today posted load limits on the following secondary roads. Due to the recent bad wea ther, the following secondary roods were posted for a/ maximum 13,000 pound axle load to prevent further da mage from heavy axle loads. SR-1001 from NC-63 to the Madison County Line SR-1003 from US-19 and US-23 to BR-2114, SR-2427 from SR-2416 to SR-2428, BR-2148 from NC-197 to US-19 and ÜB-23 and BR -2150 from NC-197 to BR -2154. It is expected that these restrictions will be removed late In April, 1966 after the weather has become more moderate and the roads have had an opportunity to dry out. March sth, 7:30 p. m. twenty two men met at the Micaville Community Club Building to organize the Yancey County Raccoon Club. After the ex change of various stories the group elected the following officers. Jim Roland, Presi dent; Kenneth Chrisawn, vice president; Vernon Fox, sec.-treasurer; Rev. John Powers, publicity chairman. The goal of the Club is to restock and to preserve the game of this area. A Field Trial Committee was ap pointed as follows: Ervin Wilson, Chairman; Grover Dellinger, Lloyd Ray, Lonas Grindstaff, and Herman Sil vers as committeemen. The Club will meet on the first Saturday night of each month, 7:30 p. m. In the Mi caville Community Club Building. Dues were set at $6.00 per year for the firsts year. SI.OO will remain In the treasurer with $5.00 going for the purchase of a'raccoon to restock the county. All Interested hunters of Yancey County are Invited to Join. Schools To Operate Seven Saturdays The Yancey County Board of Education at a meeting Monday, March 7, 1966 voted to operate all schools In the county system for seven Saturdays. Schools will be open on March 12, 26, April 16, and 30, May 14, and 28, and June 4. School will be closed In |the following manneri—-June 2 will be the last day lor regu lar classes. Teachers will grade '"tests, complete re ports and fill out report cards on June 3. Students will return on Saturdey June 4 for report cards.
