Mrs. Sam Evans was the principal. Newdale Presbvterian The women of the church have been busily engaged in furnishing the manse for the arrival of the new pas tor, Rev. Stephen Woodard. “shower” was held on Tuesday night, at which time the members of the Grassy Creek Presbyterian Church joined with 7 the Newdale congregation in putting the finishing touch es on th’s project. The congregations of trese two churches are looking r?o-<ward to the arrival this week of Rev. M'ss Sarah Hens:ey, Principal, a’ong with her staff of able teach ers and we would not leave out the minister, Rev. Harold McDonald, are to be congratulated on their fine school. In the absence of Rev. McDonald, who will be on va cation for two weeks, Rev. Bob Melvin of Mars Hl'l, will serve as interin Rev. Melvin is well known to this congregation, as he has served as supp y pastor on numerous occasions. •• • • Micaville Presbyterian The only thing new with this church is that they are putting the finishing touch es on their renovation all that remains to give it an entirely new appearance are the insta’lation of new win dows, which work will be finished up this week. ■•• • • West Burnsville Baptist Rev. The res'dents of the home deeply appreciate this gracious ges ture on the part of the church and the church is grateful for the privi’ege of extending this service There will be a decoration and memorial service at the Penley Cemetery Sunday, June 26, at 2:00 p. m. Featured on the program wIU be the West Asheville Gospel Singers, and other outstanding gospel singers. Rev. Ben Lee Honeycutt will be one of the speakers. All gospel singers, and the public, are invited to at tend and take part in the program.
