Obituaries MRS. BRINKLEY Mrs. Eenha Wright Brink of Rt. 2, died in an Asheville hospital Saturday morning, Aug. 20, follow ing a long illness. She was a daughter of the late William and Hattie Styles Wright and the wid ow of Hulon Brinkley, who died in 1963. Surviving are four daugh ters, Mrs. Rom Wilon and Mrs. J. Reece Robortson, both of Weavervilie, Mrs. Tommy Robinson of Char lotte and Mra. Edgar Ball of Fordyce, Ark.; two sons, Clyde of Burnsvillee and Reece Brinkley of Bakers ville; three sisters, Mrs. Joe Woody, Mrs. Mary Cur is and Mrs. Ola Prce, all of Burns ville; a brother, Murray Wright of Burnsville; 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Services were held at 2 p. m. Monday. Aug. 22, in Win drm Baptist Church, of which she was a member. The Rev. Lee Woody offi ciated a~l burial was in Hon eycutt Cemetery. Pallbear ers were Joe Woody, Gale Gillespie, Will Curtis. W. L. and K. O. Oscar Bailey, a former ckizen of Burnsville, died in Santa Earbara,' Calif., on Saturday, Aug. 20. Mr. Bailey had been lviing in California for the past 40 years He was ai son of the late Mr. and Mrs. M- A. Bailey. Mr. Bailey is survived by the widow, two daughters Mrs Jack Parker and Mrs. James Minah, who reside in Santa Barbara; a son, Col. Charles E. Bailey, USAF Deal AFB, Ca’ifornia. Also surviving are five sisters. Miss Tensie Bailey of Burnsville, C. Hurst of Santa Barbara, Calif., Mrs. D. C. Greene of Unicoi, Tenn., Mrs A- L. Hensley of Johnson City, Tenn., and Mrs. Water Failey of Jonesboro, Tenn.; two bro hers, H. Grady Bai ley of Burnsville, and Ro ; y H. Bailey of Buckingham, Va. Mr. Bailey was here last in 1964 It was his custom to visit relatives and friends here every two years. Mrs. JAMES PETERSON Mrs. JaSnes A. Peterson, 92, died in a local hospital Fr.day morning after an ex tended ilineess. Mrs. Peterson was a life long resident of Yancey County, and had operated a general s.or e in Burnsville since 1910. I I I —w—w— Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Pansy Lewis; and a son, Rabe M. Peterson, both of Burnsville; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Honeycutt of Bur nsville, and Mrs. Naomi B. Bailey of Erwin, Tenn.; 17 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and three grandchildren. Services were held at 3 p. m. Saturday in the chapel' of Holcombe Brothers Fun eral Home. The Rev. Harold McDon ald officiated and burial was Rn McCracken Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Ryan, Carrol! Angel, Clyde Bai ley, Philip Blevins. Jimmy a~d Johnny Peterson, and James and Frank Lewis. JERRY KENT EENNETT Services for Jerry Kent Bennett, 5-year-old son of Johnny and Wilma Jones Bennett, who died Monday, Aug. 22, were held at 2 p. m. Wednesday, Aug. 24 in Young’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. The Rev. Clyde Fender and the Rev. Charlie Miller officiated and burial was in Dull Young Cemetery. In addition to the parents, surviving are a sister, Angela Joy Bennett of the home; and the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Vernal Jones of Burnsville and Mr. and Mrs. Baxter Bennett of Relief. Mr. and Mrs- Arthur Dover jjlj I Mrs. Wllsor, Mrs. Ray o Hostess To Club Mrs. Brooks Wilson and Mrs Wayne Ray were hos tesses to the Burnsville Gar den Club on last Friday at the home of Mrs. Wilson. Mrs. W. S. Reeve was pro gram leader and read a chapter from her forthcom ing book, “Crls of the Under standing Heart”. The scene of the chapter was laid in Jopan and Mrs. Reeve show ed beautiful pictures of the temples of Japan and a bro chure of a typical Japanese villa. Mrs. W. A. Y. Sargent, President, presided at the business session at which time Mrs. Brooks Wilson gave the financial report. A letter was read to the club from Mrs. Maye Robinson who teaches at Midland, N. C. Mrs. Robinson reported on the progress of a Junior Garden Club which she had helped organize and express ed hope that a Senior Gar den Club would be organized soon. During the social hour the hostesses served a salad course Mrs. B. B. Wilson was a guest of the club. The September meeting will be at the home of Mrs. D. R. Font.*.
