A letter from Mrs. Frances Low, who is spending the winter with her son in Ar nold, Maryland, reports a happy Christmas, with 15 guests assembled for Christ mas d nner, in spite of nine and one-half isches of snow. Interested friends might like to know that Mrs. Low's pre sent address is 20 Grandview Road, Arnold, Md. 21012. Ma or Roger W. Estep is now stationed at McQuire A. F. B, New Jersey. Gary was a so phomore at Appalachian. State College. The teen-age Fellowship group from Micaville and Es tatoe Presbyterian churches visited Washington College Academy at Washington Col lege, Tenn., Sunday afternoon and evening. They were ac companied by Rev. John Powers and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Griffith and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bowditch. After a tour of the enmpus they had supper with the students, af ter which the group conduc ed the vesper serv : ces. A hi-hll ht of the program was a rerort by Ramona Boyditch and Sharon Young on their trip to Bible camp in Florida 1-st summer. Washington College Academy is a combin ed church board : ng school and oublic hir-h school. It Is operated bv the United Pres byterian Church. Hughes, daughter of Mrs. Sylvester Hu hea of Bums ville, is a member of the French Club at Appalachian State Teachers College for the current school year ’66-’67. e The French Club, or Le Cercle Francais,, at Appala chian is supervised by the Foreign Language Depart ment. All students who are currently taking French are eligible for membership. The surroundings and activities of the club are conducive to learning the language and habits of the French. During the year the members learn French songs and dances, eat French meals, and stage French plays. Ralph Sechler, County Supervisor, states that' there have been some recent chan ges ma le regarding purposes for which Rural Housing loans might be made. For the first time FHA can make bans to purchase existing dwellings without regard to age. And for the first time can under certain conditions make loans to refinance housing debts. For details concerning the changes referred to above contact your local FHA office located in the Old Citizens Bank Building in Burnsville. Mr. Sechler also announced that funds were available for most FHA programs. Gospel Sing In Asheville There will be a gospel sing, sponsored by the March of Dimes, in the Asheville City Auditorium Saturday night, January 14, from 7:00 to 12‘00 o’clock. There will be no ad mission charges, but a free will offering will ~be taken. All proceeds will g 0 to the March of Dimes. Some of the outstanding singing groups in this part of the country will be on hand. Mr. Ed Ball will be Master of Ceremonies. The public is cordially in vited.
