Check the Yellow Pages. % Burris Joins Community Action Program Eugene Burris, a Baptist minister from Raleigh, lus joined thir Yancey county community action program as coordinator for the Vv.a.m.y staff in the county. Burris succeeds Ken San chagrin in the position. San chagrln, who has worked as acting coordinator while Bur ris completed his seminary training at Wake Forest, will continue to work for W.A.M. Y., temporarily doing research in the marketing of local fruits and vegetables. As W.A.M.Y. Coordinator in Yancey County, Burris will be responsible for seeing that all the community action pro » grams In the county are car ried out smoothly and effi ciently. Eurris is a native of Albe marle, North Carolina and worked for nearly seven years as pastor of the Zion Baptist Church near Statesville. He also served as pastor of the Hi hland Baptist Church in Raleigh for 15 months. He attended Mars Hill Col lege for two years and trans ferred to the Southeastern Seminary at Wake Forest to. complete his undergraduate study with a degree in educa tion. He worked as a school tea cher in the Yadkin County schools for three vears before entering the Wake Forest seminary in 1963. He graduat ed from the seminary this month with a Bacelor’s Degree in Divinity. Burris is the minis ter to work fey W.A.M.Y. ns a county coordinator.
