The Rev. Sam Moore and the Rev. Roscoe Br'ggs officiated. Burial were in Carroway Ceme tery. Graveside military r.tes were conducted by a detachment from Fort Jackson, S. C., who served as pallbearers. He was a graduate of Yancey Hgh School and had been in m litary service since Septem ber 1969. Surviv ng are the widow, Mrs. Shirley Wheeler Ray of Spruce P ne; the mother, Mrs. James Ray of Micav He; two sisters, Mrs. Robert Hall of Middletown, Cinn. and Mrs. Bob Ingram of Spruce Pine; three brothers, Dan, Lloyd and Phillip Ray, all of Micaville; and the grandmo ther, Mrs. John Ray of Micaville JEFFERY HAROLD KING Jeffery Harold King, three year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy K ng of Burnsville Rt. 4, died at 11:55 p. m. Friday in an Asheville hospital after a six months illness. She was the widow of the late John S. Fox, who died in 1949. She is survived by five daugh ters, Mrs. A. F. Carr, Mrs. Ray Robertson, Mrs. Otis Proff tt of Bald Creek, Mrs. Bill Mcln tosh of Alexandria, Va., and Mrs. C. D. Lloyd of West Palm Beach, Fla.; five sons, Love, Ja mes, and Ralph of Burnsville, Russell of Utica, Mich, and Will iam L. Fox of Bald Creek; one s ster, Mrs. Pansy Allen of Hil debran, N. C.; one brother, Frank Phipps of Jonesboro, Tenn.; 24 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:30 p. m. at Bald Creek Methodist Church. The Rev. CARL RIDDLE Carl Riddle, 68, of Burnsville, died at 4:40 a. m. in a local hospital after an illness of six months. Mr. Riddle, who had been in the shoe repair business in the Burnsville area 45 years, was a son of the late John A. and Augusta Oil is Riddle. He was a native of Mitchell County. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Mary Gouge R'ddle; two daugh ters, Mrs. Bruce Byrd of Fort Walton Beach. Fla., and Mrs. Earl Blankenship of Asheville; two sons, Jack of Titusville. Fla. and Ben L. Riddle of Asheville; two brothers, J. W. and Ernest R ddle of Spruce Pine; and nine grandchildren. Funeral services’ were held at 3 p. m. Monday in the chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. The Rev. Lee Talmadge offeiated and burial was in Aca demy Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ed Hensley. Joe Freeman, Bradley Shuford, Roy Ray and Glenn and Jake McMahan. OLIVER PETERSON Oliver Horton Hill section of Yancey County, died at 5 p. m. Friday at the home of a daughter. Mrs. Fult Bennett, after an illness of several years. THE YANCEY RECORD Mr. Peterson was a retired employe of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad. Surviv.ng, in addition to Mrs. Bennett, are five other daugh ters, Mrs. Gaither Renfro of Green Mountain, Mrs. P. P. Pra ther of Greenwood, S. C.. Mrs. Bill Furches of Jonesboro, Tenn. Mrs. Clinton Reed of Elizabeth ton, Tenn., and Mrs. Raymond Constable of Akron, Ohio; two sons, Geater and France Peter son, both of Erwin, Tenn.; a bro ther, Ben Peterson of Baltimore; 37 grandchildren, 77 great-grand chldren and five great-great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p. m. Sunday in South Bend Free Will Bapt’st Church. The Revs. CharHe Miller, Calvin Barnett and Frances Radford officiated and burial was in Peterson Cemetery. # Pallbearers were Joe, Ike and Fred Peterson, Clesen Letter man, Howard Beam and Voyd McCurry.
