Tobacco, shrubbery, and vegetable plants next to a meadow are usually more easily damaged. Treatment: Poisoned baits have been used extensively. Baits containing calcium arse nate plus metafdehyde are usu a'lv most effective. Read the label and do n t put poison bait on strawberries or other crops that you are going to eat. Trenches plowed or dug aro und the bed or field and filled with lime or fertilizer have been found helpful. A general cleanup of old trash, lumber, brush and other debris would be a preventive measure. Cold, damp weather is favor able tor slugs and snails. Sun shine end warm ww«Us«r will scon be here.
