LOCALS Mr. and Mrs. Ed Anglin and children, Kathy and Tommy have returned to their home in Clairton, Pa. after spending a few days here visiting friends and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. George Black and boys, Roger and Scot of Canton were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Anglin Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Petrone of New York are visiting her fam ily here. They will remain for several days. Sgt. and Mrs. Phillip Ramsey and children are visiting rela tives here. They have been liv ing in Spain where Sgt. Ramsey has been stationed for the past four years. Mr.:-. J. Willard Ray returned to her heme here Saturday from Mission Memorial Hospi tal in Asheville where she has been a patient for the past three weeks. Mrs. N. A. Price and children of Greenville, S. C. has returned heme after a week’s visit with her mother, Mrs. W. L. Bennett, and ether relatives here. Her daughter, Becky Price, remain ed in Burnsville for a two week’s visit w'th her cousin, Jeannie Ray. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ray visited their daughter, Mrs. Edwin Quinn, and family in Columbia, S. C. last week-end. Mrs. G. Leslie Hensley is a patient in Yancey Hospital here where she is undergoing treat ment. Mrs. George King is a patient in Yancey Hospital where she is undergoing treatment for pneumonia. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Hensley and children of Portsmouth, Va. are visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs Vance Hensley and Mr. and Mrs. Hershel Holcombe, here this week. Miss Jean Hol combe who had been visiting Charlie and Myra in Portsmouth for the past two weeks returned home with them. Mrs. Flora Anderson of Route 6 has had vi. it;ng, her three daughters - Mrs. Ella May Bowditch of Asheville, Mrs. Cin dy Ray cf Mars Hill and Mrs. Henry Buerson of Chicago. Mr. John Wilson of Burnsville has returned to his home, after a stay of about a month in Mis sion Memorial Hospital, where he underwent surgery. We are glad to report that he is doing nicely. Mrs. Roy Miller of Norfolk, Va., is visiting her sister, Mrs. John Wilson of Burnsville. Mr and Mrs. Dean Brown and sons, Ricky and Noel, of Hickory were visiting friends and rela tives here over the week-end. Miss Eloise Brown accompanied them home for a week’s visit. Rev. and Mm. Alvin Jones of Newdale have as guests their nieces Carolyn and Elizabeth Grayson also nephew Robert Grayson of Forest City. The Jon e also have staying with them Fred and Bulow Carver of Mars Hill, whose mother was critically burned and is in the hospital. Claude Gurley of Rt. 2, suffer ed a heart attack last week, and is a patient in Oteen Veteran’s Hospital. Mi. and Mrs. Deennis Phillips of Johnson City, are visiting re latives and friends in this area. Dennis was discharged from the Air Corps last week. He has been stationed at Loring Air Force Base, Maine, for most of his four-years tour of duty. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Phillips of Johnson City, for merly of Newda’e. Mrs. Phillips is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wa'ker Thomas of Spruce Pine. John R. Lewis who recently underwent surgery and treatment at the Oteen V.A. Major Burns is’ stationed in Florida with the U. S. Air Corps. Mr. and Mrs. James Hughes were recent guests of Mrs. Clapp and Mr. Bennett. Mr. Hughes is working in Florida and Mrs. Hughes taught in the Flo rida School System last year and has been at UNC, Greensboro this summer where she has been taking some courses. Mrs. Edgar Hunter, Jr., en tered St. Joseph's Hospital in Asheville Monday. She under went surgery cn Tuesday. Reid Peterson of Atlanta, Ga., Rrnnie Peterson of Bassett, Va., and Mrs. Bob Wilson and child ren of Hyattsville, Md., have been visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Guss Peterson, for seme time. Reid returned to At lanta on Monday; Mrs. Wilson and children will return home later in the week; while Ronnie will remain with his parents for a longer visit. Mrs. Annie Bennett returned to her home at Nu-Wray Inn last week, after visiting her daugh ter, Mrs. Robert Gould, and family in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. Mrs. Bennett also visit ed her brother, Bill Wray in Sanford, Fla., and Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Bolton in Miami, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph L. Wi’son and children of Midland, Mich., have returned home after visit ing her mother, Mrs. Garrett Bailey, here for the past two weeks. W. C. Kilpatrick, Jr., and children, Andrea, Donnie and Denise, of Charlotte, were also week-end guests of Mrs. Bailey. Mr. Ki'patrick returned to Charlotte Sunday. The child ren will remain with their grandmother, Mrs. Bailey, for a month. Dr. and Mrs. Harvey L. Young and children, Steven, Roger, and Robin of Spokane, Washington, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. G. Mr. Ralph Kerns, of Greens boro, Managing Director at Parkway Playhouse, is in Burns ville for the remainder of the summer. He is making his home while in Burnsville with the Bruce Westall’s. Mrs. Ed Boone of Route 2, who was injured in an automo bile accident in Greenville, S. C., last week, is making a good recovery, and has been able to leave the hospital. Little Sammy Ray, son of Mrs, Nancy Bocne of Route 2 r left last week to spend the summer with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Smith, of Miami, Fla. Pfc. and Mrs. Larry Murphy of Erwin, Tenn., were guests of Larry’s grandmother, Mrs. W. C. Murphy, also Mr. and Mrs. Lee Boone, last week. Larry, the son of Howard Murphy, for mer resident of Burnsville, left Sunday for Frankfurt, Germany. Guy Weatherman, a patient at Black Mountain Sanitarium, spent a few days last week with his family in Newdale. Miss Monie Argo of Charlotte and Atlanta, Ga. visited Mrs. Norris Deyton last week-end. Mr. Ami Mrs. Lewis Attend 'Expo 67’ Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lewis have returned from a memorab’e trip to “Expo ’67” in Montreal, Canada. This is how it all hap pened. They were invited by their son, Frank Howard Lewis, teacher of history at Hall Flet cher School in Buncombe Coun ty, to assist in chaperoning a group cf students on a 9-day tcur of Washington, New York, and the Exposition. There were 92 in the party, including chaperones. The party traveled by modern air-conditioned motor coach. They spent one day in Washing ton, D. C., where they visited Arlington Cemetery, toured the Capitol and Smithsonian Insti tute. From Washington they went to New York City. Whi'e in New York they took a motor coach tcur of upper New York, includ ing stops at the Cathedral of St. John th.e Divine and Lincoln Center. Thev took in the Radio City Music Hall. They spent two days and three nights seeing the sights of New York. They spent two nights and days tak ing in the Exposition. On their return trip thev spent a couple more davs in New York. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis agree that it was a wonderfud, though rath er tiring trip. Only one child got lest, and that was in Washing ton, D. C. After four hours the police rounded her ud and she was returned to the fold. Homemaker’s Club Musts The Burnsville Homemaker’s Club had an enjoyable meeting last week at the home of Mrs. Molly Silver at Bolens Creek, with Mrs. John Banks as co herless. Father Richard S. Bailey of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware offi ciated at the double ring cere mony which was followed by a reception in the Holiday House Restaurant in Bethany Beach. The bride is the daughter of Mr. George Anderson Millard, Jr., of Blountville, Tennessee and the late Mrs. Jeanne Mill ard. Mr. Hensley is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Vance Hensley of Burnsville, N. C. Given in marriage by her fa ther, the bride wore a gown of bridal satin with a Chantilly and French lace overskirt with a chapel train. A petal lace and drop pearl crown held her veil of illusion. She carrried a cas cade bouquet of white mums and green orchids with lily of the vallev streamers. Mother of the groom wore a light avacodo suit and a yellow rosebud corsage. After a wedding trip to Aca pulco, Mexico, the couple will reside in Alexandria, Va. engagement of their daughter, Lcis Ann, to Dr. Deaton Maddox, sen of Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Mad dox of Roberta, Georgia. The bride-elect was graduated from East Yancey High School, Warren Wilson Junior College, Swannanoa and East Carolina College, Greenville, N. C. Cur rently she is employed by the Sumter County School System Americus, Georgia. Dr. Maddox received his un dergraduate degree at Mercer University, Macon, Georgia, and his M. D. degree at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia. At present he is finish ing his year’s internship at the Medical Center In Columbus, Ga.
