Q. We all know that Social
Security is a big program pay
ing different kinds of benefits.
Most pe pie are prcbably like
me don't have a clear picture
of all the kinds cr types of bene
fits. So I wish ycu’d list and
surrmarizi them all in one an
swer if possible. Is that too
much to ask?
A. Maybe not too much to
a h but almost too much to
answer! However, giving only
the barest essentials, we’ll try
to comply:
Old-Age Insurance Benefits
payah’e to a worker of retire
ment age (reduced payments if
taken at 62-64, or full benefits

is retired or does little or no

Disability Insurance Benefits—
payable if the worker becomes
disab’ed before age 65, provided
he meets the work and medical
requirements.
The following benefits are pav
ab’e to the worker’s family
when he is entitled to old-age or
disability benefits:
Wife’s Benefits - to his wife
at 62 64 (reduced payments) or
at 65 (full wife's benefits). Also
payable to a divorced wife under
certain conditions.
Mother’s Benefits to his
wife under age 62 if she has in
her care an unmarried child un
der 18, or disabled, and entitled
to benefits on his earnings re
cord.
Child’s Benefits —for his un
married children (natural, adop
ted, or step-children) under age
18; and payments may be made
until age 22 if a child is attend
ing school full time.
Childhood Disability Benefits
—for his child over 18 if the
child became disabled before
age 18 and has been disabled
ever since.
These payments are payable in
event of the worker’s death:
Widow’s Benefits to his
widow at age 62 (or reduced
benefits as early as age 60).
Benefits are also payable to a
surviving divorced wife under
certain circumstances.
Mother’s Benefits to his
widow under 62 if she has in her
care his child under 18, or if
special requirementss are met
his disabled adult child entitled
to benefits on his record.

Dependent Parent's Benefits—
to a deceased worker’s mother
or father (cr both) from age 62
on, provided the deceased was
contributing. Vt of his parent’s
support at the time of his
death.
Lump-Sum Death Payment
in addition to any monthly pay
ments, a lump sum death bene
fit (which may be from $132 to
$255) is payable at his death.)
Besides all the above cash
payments, health insurance be
nefits are now provided under
Social Security for people 65 or
over: Hospital Insurance to help
pay the costs of hospital care
and certain other medical ser
vices, and Medical Insurance to
he’p pay the costs of physicians’
services and certain ether items
not covered by hospital insur
ance.

Explorers from posts through
out the Daniel Boone Council,
Boy Scouts of America, have
been invited to take part in a
"Field Sports Day” at Camp
Daniel Boone on Saturday July
Bth.
The program will begin right
after lunch, and it will include
competition on the Rifle Range,
Moskeet Shooting, Stationary
and Moving Targets on the Ar
chery Range, Swimming, Boat
ing and Canoeing.
Exp'orers will also enjoy a
campfire program Saturday
night, and those spending the
night will attend religious ser
vices on Sunday morning. Aci
vities will be concluded just be
fore lunch on Sunday.
