Boy Stouts Plan Annual Fall Roundup Boys will be invited to join the Boy Scouts of America as a part of the annual fall roundup, the membership campaign of the Daniel Boone Council, Hillhud H. Penland, the roundup chair man, announced today. The fall roundup is scheduled to be held between September 11 and December 15, but leaders of 285 Cub Scout packs, Boy Scout troops, and Explorer posts in this area have already started to make their plans for Scout unit participation in the mem bership program, Mr. Penland said. 8,9, and 10 year old boys will be invited to join Cub Scout packs and boys 11 or older are eligible for Boy Scout troops. High School boys will have spec ial opportunities to become Ex plorers, Mr. Penland said. As a part of the fall roundup program in the Daniel Boone Council, Scout units, boys, and leaders will be able to earn awards. These include: For the boy Each boy who recruits a new boy will receive a Recruit er Strip. For the unit leader A copy of the brand new and treasured Scout Fieldbook for recruiting at least 6 new boys into his unit. Under the government pro gram, retired military person nel, their eligible dependents, and dependents of former mem bers who died while on active duty or in a retired status, be came eligible for civilian health benefits on January 1, 1967, The Blue Cross and Blue Shield Military Retiree Certifi cate provides benefits of one third the amount to be paid by the government for in-patient services. This is equivalent to 25% of charges and together with the government coverage, provides 100% protection for services classified as in-patient care under the Military Medical Programs. Military coverage for retired members and eligible depend ents will continue until age 65, at which time military medical benefits cease for those entitled to hospital benefits under Title I of the Social Security Am mendments of 1965. Blue Cross and Blue Shield subscribers holding Military Retiree Certi ficates will have an opportunity to transfer to Blue Cross and Blue Shield Medicare coverage when they become eligible. Military Retiree Supplement , Coverage, offered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield, is a special coverage but dues may be re mitted through employers. THE YANCEY RECORD Boy Stouts Attend Camp Daniel Boone The following Cub Scouts from Micaville Pack 509, accompan ied by adult leaders Ben Grif fith, Lloyd Deyton and Max Hughes, attended Camp Daniel Boone Saturday, July 15: Lynn Huskins, Derek Hughes, Misc» Bailey, Tony Hughes, Phillip Deyton, Tom Griffith, and Bob by Deoela. Beginning at one p. m., the boys and their dads visited “County Fair” stations, illus . trating the many aspects of Boy Scout camp activities. Stations include swimming, boating, rif lery, archery, fishing, camp craft and nature study. The evening program included a formal flag ceremony, a cook out boy scout style, without utensils, and a campfire with the usual songs, stunts, stories and Scout fellowship. This is an annual event to en able the Cubs to get a taste of camp life and to show thin what they may look forward to upon graduation into Boy Scouts. Louise Hughes, Den Mother Roberts Named Area Chairman (Raleigh, July 17, 1967) George W. Roberts, Roberts Chevrolet-Buick, Inc., Burnsville has been reappointed to serve as 1967-68 Area Chairman of the North Carolina Automobile Deal ers Association for Yancey County, according to an announ cement made today by NCADA President Henry H. Sandlin of Dunn. Mr. Roberts will act as liasoft officer between new car and truck dealers in this area and NCADA and the National Auto mobile Dealers Association. He will be responsible for promot ing the various programs and activities of NCADA' and NADA and will head a county-wide membership campaign for both organizations. Officers of the North Carolina Automobile Dealers Association are: Henry H. Sandlin, Dunn, President; R. D. McMillan, Jr., Red Springs, Vice President; J. K. Neely, Jr., Belmont, Sec retary; W. O. Buie, Smithfield, Treasurer; and T. A. Williams. Sr., Greensboro, North Carolina director of the National Automo bile Dealers Association and NADA First Vice President.
