THE YANCEY RECORD WITHOUT A LOST TIME ACCIDENT June 10, 1967 was a very sig nificant day for the employees of Glen Raven Mills in Burns ville. It was on this day they reached their goal of two mill ion (2,000,000) man hours work ed without a lost-time accident. This record has been accumu lating since November 1962 when the last lost-time accident occurred. In celebration of this accom plishment Glen Raven employees and their families will have ah old-fashioned picnic at the East Yancey High School on July 30, 1967. The affair will begin at 3:00 p. m. and a meal will be served at 5:30 p. m. Many activities have been scheduled for the afternoon. T. Blalock and Har old Harris for the bovs; and Mary Curtis, Peegy Wilson and Janette Byrd for the girls. There will be helium fi"ed balloons with Luther Wells, Brooks Boone and Charles Black provid ing the helium. The Fire and Safety Brigade has contributed much to make THURSDAY, JULY V. 1967 Glen Raven a safe place to work. Each of these men holds a card from die American Red Cross in First Aid, and has un dergone instruction in fire fight ing, safetv and first aid provided by the North Carolina Industrial Commission. Assistant Chief; Frank Phillips, Secretary: Champ Mc- Mahan, Gradv Melton, Jeter Parker, Burgin Silver, Jack Gillespie, Rav Bodford, Tommy Gibbs, Donald J. Owens, Edgar Anvel, Cieophus Gilbert, Oscar Stvies, John Black, and Frank Allen. Their contributions have been of great value in achieving the safety record.
