Col. and Mrs. Sam ij. Huskins
and sons, Gary and Kirk, have
returned to their home in Mel
bourne, Fla., after a two weeks
visit with Col. Huskin’s mother
and sister, Mrs. Sam J. Huskins
and Miss Peggy Huskins. The
family spent a week with Sgt.
Bill Huskins in Raleigh, and on
Tuesday Bill drove to Asheville
with the family, where they all
attended the ceremonies install
ing Woodrow W. Jones as Fed
eral Judge.
Mr and Mrs. L. V. Pollard
have had visiting them Mr.
Pollard's niece, Mrs. Robert
LeClerg, Mr. LeClerg and two
children of Washington, D. C.;
and Mr. Pollard’s brother, Louis
O. Pollard and Mrs. Pollard of
Memphis. Tenn.
John Gillespie, youngest son of
Llr. and Mrs. C. B. Gillespie,
has enlisted in the U. S. Navy,
and is stationed at Great Lakes,
Naval Base John finished his
freshman year at Breward Jun
ior College. Fort Lauderdale,
Fla., in June.
Kddie Hay of Fort Ituuderdale,
Fla, has arrived at Nu-Wray
Inn, where he will spend the
remainder of the summer. Mr.
Hay was formerly with the
Parkway Playhouse.

niece of Mr Max Proffitt. From
here the Harnesses will* go to
Fayetteville, Arkansas, where
they will visit with Mr. Har

of Warren, Mich., at the home
of the bride’s parents in Burns
ville Friday, July 21 at 6 p. m.
Rev. Vivian Brown, pastor of
Newland Baptist Church con
ducted the ceremony.
The bride was given in mar
riage by her father. She wore a
light blue sleeveless A-line dress
with lace jacket. She carried a
white Bible topped with a white
orchid.
The bride is a graduate of
Cane River High School, and is
presently em-onea at Caldwell
Technical Institute, Lenoir, N.
C., where she is majoring in
Cosmetology.

The groom, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Whitson of Warren,
Michigah, is a graduate of War
ren High School, Warren, Mich.
After graduating from high
school he became an illustrator
at L.T.V. Aerospace Corp, and
is now an illustrator for the Air
Corps.
Mrs. Glenda Byrd, sister of
the bride, was matron of honor.
She wore a A-line navy blue
with short sleeves and
carried white roses.
Wayne Whitson of Warren,
Michigan, brother of the groom,
was best man.
Jeffrey O’Brien Austin was
ring bearer.
The mother of the bride wore
a two piece dress of navy and
white, and a corsage of red
rosebuds. The groom’s mother
wore an aqua dress, with a cor
sage of red rosebuds.
After a wedding trip to Tryon,
N. C., the bride will return to
Lenoir where she will finish her
training, after which she will
join the groom at shaw Air
Force Base.

in the U. S. Navy aboard the

Mrs. Elizabeth Clapp of Ben

joyed a visit to Sarasota Jungle
Gardens on July 19, while vaca
tioning on Florida’s Lower West
Coast. Here the visitors mingle
with flamingos and other rare
and unusual wild fowl from
every Continent, which roam
freely in these world-famous
Gardens. Also of interest in Sar
asota Jungle Gardens are thou-'
sands of tropical plants, many
of which are beautifully colored,
huge Royal Palms bordering
dense jungle trails, and brill

atoos which pose with visitors
for pictures.

Hall Appointed

W. Mark Hall, Route 2, Bur
nsville, has been appointed to
serve on the Yancey County
Farmers Home Administration.
This announcement was made
today by W. Ralph Sechler, Cou
nty Supervisor for the agency.
Hall’s appointment is for a 3-
year term.
Hall succeeds Thad J. Ray
whose three-year term expired
June 30, 1961.
The Farmers Home Adminis
tration is an agency within the
Department of Agriculture that
extends credit to farmers and
rural residents for items such as 1
farm machinery, livestock, farrri
expense, farm purchase and de
velopment and home construc
tion or purchasp. The agency
makes loans to rural communi
ties and small towns for the
construction of water systems,
sewer systems and recreation
facilities.
The responsibilities of the
Farmers Heme Administration
County Committee include de- 3
termining eligibility on all loan
applications received, setting
the amount of maximum credit
that can be extended to an ap
plicant, and advising the County
Supervisor in administering the
agencies overall credit program.
Hall operates a general farm
in the Boonford section of Yan
cey County. He is a'so a past
chairman of the Yancey County
Board of County Commissioners.
Other members of the county
committee are Sam V. Wheeler,
Cane River and Clessen Letter
man, Green Mountain.
Supervisor Sechler says that
all three committeemen are fa
miliar with the credit needs of
rural people and are well quali
fied to render a real service in
helping to extend the credit aid
available from the Farmers
