The squadron’s mission is an
ti-submarine warfare, as well as
ocean and coastal surveillance.
Utilizing the SP-2H “Nep
tune" aircraft, VP-1 flies miss
ions supporting "Market Time"
operations off the coast of Bouth
Vietnam, and ocean surveillance
patrols over the South China Sea.
"Market Time" is the opera
tion used to prevent the infil
tration, by sea, of men, supplies
and ammunition to enemy for
ces operating in South Vietnam.
