Judge Holds Hearing With Education Beard Superior Court Judge Robert M. Martin, who has been pre siding at a court term here, called a meetng with the Yan cey County Board of Education last Thursday. The meeting was called be cause of a report made by die grand jury concern ng condition* at seme of the schools in the courty. The report stated that seme improvements were need ed in most of the schools. The basic issue, however, whs the reported condition of Cane Riv er High School. Some of the existing condi tions were reported by the November term prarfl jury. Miss Boone Speaks To Day Care Committee The sponsoring committee of the Day Care Center here met Tuesday at Pete’s Snack Bar. The purpose of the meeting was to explore ways that state and federal ad may be obtained for the Center. Miss Ethel Boone, County School Supervisor, spoke to the group on funds that might be avalable through the State. She Nso explained the educational program offered through the pubi c schools for trainable children. It was stated that the center has suffie'ent equipmen t for licensing. Also, that a local doc tor has stated that he wil coop erate n every . way as liar as examination of children is con cerned. It was suggested that the group send representatives to the Governor’s Counc l on Men tal Retardation. Hie Western Carolina Center at Morgan ton has shown much ir'ereet in the Center here and has stated it w’ll supply speak ers when needed.
