Bob Scott, Democrat ic cand date for governor, has suggested the State should pave driveways leading to volunteer fire departments. “I believe where 't’s pract : cal ■and feasible, the State should pave the driveways of these fire stations,” Scott sad. “The trucks need to move out qu'ck ly and safely in order to save lives and property." Scott said volunteer depart ments effect vely reduce insur ance rates. ‘‘Volunteer firemen are good c tizens and contribute thousands of man hours of time each year,” he explaned. There are more than 750 vol unteer fire departments in the State. Last year more than 18,000 volunteers attended trac ing classes sponsored by the Community College system.
