WELZIE McMAHAN Welz e McMahan, 86, of Rt. 2, ded Tuesday morning at his hone after an extended illness. Mr. McMahan was a retired miner, farmer and a member of Celo Baptst Church. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Lou Gouge McMahan, six daugh ters, Mrs. Irene MeCurry of Roan Mountain, Tenn., Mrs. Evelyn Young and Mrs. Faye McCarthey, both of Marion, Mrs. M ldred Garland of Catonsv lie, Md„ Mrs. Mary Alice Young of Hendersonville and Mrs. Carrie Weatherman of Rhode Island; three sons, Clarence and Glenn, both of Newdale, and John Mc- Mahan of Spruce Pine; three sisters, Mrs. Martha Crowder, Mrs. Stella Boone and Mrs. Les se Weatherman all of Asheville; four brothers. Lonnie and the Rev. Plylar McMahan, both of Marion, Chelsie of Mars Hill and Burgess McMahan of Spruce Pine; 33 grandchildren and 34 great-gratidch Idren. ROBERTSON Mrs. Mallie Robertson, 87, of the Pensacola Community, died Sunday night 'n a local hospital after a long illness. She was the widow of Cleo phus W. Robertson, who died in 1966. Survivng are a daughter, Mrs. H. W. Beaver of Lancaster, S. C.; five sons, Roy of Etowah, Earl of Wadesboro, Clyde of Greenville, S. C., Carroll of Ak ron, Ohio, and C. W. The meeting began wiith a devo tional by the young peple which included Welze Harrison Met calf, Janet Wilson, Frankie Wyatt and at the piano Susan Mclntosh. Afterward the business session was held. It was opened by the special speaker, The Rev. Paul Duckwall, from Statesville, N. C. He told the group about all the summer activities gong on for youth and abcut the new youth l terature. After this the business sesson was called to order by the Sub-District presi dent, Norma Jean Metcalf. Next a play entitled "The An swer” was presented, based on the use of prayer and the fa th that it will be answered. Mem bers of the cast were Linda Sue Al'en, James Stuart Bagwell, Norma Jean Metcalf, Dwight Wilson and Perry Wilson. In clos ng refreshments were seiTed by the ladies of the chur ch.
