By taking an ac tve part in the 4-H Club P'o - and by providing support, understanding and counsel, you will help your boy o' girl de velop into a more useful citizen. The 4-H program offers sat sfy ing experience also for you in helping other boys and girls, and in association w th 4-H lead ers, and friends of 4-H. The P U R P 0 S E of the 4-H Club program is to provide ideals and train ng in skills, leadership and citizenship. 4-H members “learn to do by doing* to develop their m'nds to do useful - to give loyal service to their fellow men and to God and to form habits that will develop healthy bod ies and healthy minds. MEMBERSHIP n the 4-H Club is voluntary. Any boy or girl, between the ages of 9 and 19 may belong 4-H Clubs are or ganized on a community bastg and usually meet monthly. Each member selects a project that best fits his home situa t on. his needs and his interest. COMMUNITY 4-H LEADERS guide the Club Extension Agri cultural and Home Economics Agents help teach the leaders and assist 4-H Club membe~s. Th s is the ques ion I sometimes ask myself when the-e are always so many demands on my time. First of all, let me explain that 1 have four chldren enroll ed in 4-H Club work and I am in‘crested in my child'eff devel oping into good c 'izens. There are many worthwhile activities for 4-H Club members but we could g ve an answer that would sum up the joint purpose of all these activities. This is the for ming of good ma.er al for lead ership tomorrow out of the ma terial at hand today. In simp’er form the building of good citi zen* out of today's youth. Our 4-H Club recently gave a program on Citizenship to forty members of Brush C:ek Com munity Those were s.»”e .>f the thngs the' boys and girls listed as ways the 4-H Club helps build good citizenship: (1) It helps our personal outlook on life, <2l It helps our outlook toward others, (3) It teaches us conservation in all phases of life, (4) It encourages us to use " our head, heart, hands and health for better living, (5) It helps us build a compe itive sp rit, (6) It gives us a chance to learn what life is like in oth- “Lite insurance on my kids?” For pennies a day, why not!
