Mr. and Mrs. Lacy Johnson are visiting relatives in Port land, Maine due to the death of Mr. Johnson’s sister. Miss Sandra Fox of Wingate College, N. C., visited her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Arney Fox, qnd family last week-end. Mr. and Mrs. E. Y. Fox of S partamburg, S. C., were guests of Mr. Fox’s brother, Arney Fox, and familyy last week-end. Mh-and Mrs. Burt S. Higgins of Charlotte visited relatives here last week-end. Miss Zoe Young and Mrs. R. N. Silver are vsiting Mrs. Sil vers’ daughter, Mrs. Jack A. Rogers, and family in Winston- Salem this week. Miss Peggy Huskins has been in New York Cty for the past 10 days where die is having tests and evaluation at Memorial Hospital. Her mother, Mrs. Sam Huskins and brother. Bill Hus kins of Raleigh, are w'th her. They expect to return to their home in two weeks. Byrd this week. t L..*, Micaville Elementary School Sponsors Book Fair l The Mica'"!’-c Elementary School, M caville, N. C., will sponsor a student book fair from October 22 to October 24. Stud ents will be able to browse and purchase books. The book fair will be open during the hours of 9:00 a. m. until 2:00 p. m. Books will be on display in Micaville School Gym. The book fair committee in viw j all students, parents and visitors to attend the fair. The fair will not only help spur stu dent interest in reading and building home libraries, but will also contribute to a worth while project. The school earns 20% of all sales and profits will be used for library books. The Micaville Elementary School Libra-y is sponsoring this event, with Mrs. Fern Rob inson serving as book fair chairman. The book fair display will in clude attractive new hooka from many publishers in all popular price ranges. All reading areas of interest to students will be represented, including classics, fiction, biographies, adventure stories, science, nature, crafts, mystery and reference books. Wonderful books to read or to give as giUs. The committee is working with Educational Read ing Service, a professional book fair company, to furnish an in dividual selection of books for the fair. The Rev. Will am E. Brooks officiated at the double ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Reiche, Maitland, Flor da. The bridegroom’s par ents are Mr. and Mrs. Carl P. McKnney, Green M!n., N. C. The bride was given in mar riage by Dr. Harry Campbell, and chose a gown of wh te silk organza and peau d’ ange lace. The bodice was designed with a scalloped neckline and long sleeves. The bouffant skirt cas caded into a chapel f'aln. Her ve l was of French silk illusion attached to a circle of orange blossoms. She carried a white orchid on a Bible. . Charlotte Williams, Winter Park, Florida, who served as maid of honor, was her only at tendant. Ronald Westbrooks, Baconton, Ca., served as best man. Ushers were Donald and Richard McKinney of Satellite Beach, Flor da. Following a re ception in the chu'ch social ar- ea, the couple departed on a wedding trip to Daytona Beach, Fla. They will make their home in Casselberry, Fla. Dorothy, bom in Georga, was a i 960 graduate of Winter Park High School, and was formerly em ployed by the FBI. The bride groom served in the U. S. Miss Bennett, the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Ben nett of Swiss, is majoring in art. The Anastas a Tomberlin Scholarship Award is presented ■annually to a member of tbs senior class who is outstanding in character, citixensh p, and scholarship. This award wai es tablished as a memorial to the late Anastasia Tomberl n, a Yancey County teacher for many years. The funds for the scholar ship are provided through con tributions of interested persons. All members of the faculty sug gest candidates for the award. However, the final dec'siow is made by a committee which is presently composed of five fac ulty members, Mr. Jimmy Neill, chairman, Mrs. Phylla Bailey, Mr. and Mrs. Horace Cox, and Mrs. Pauline Hensley.
