Adult Basic Education is pro vided for men and women 13 yea _ s old and older not enroll ed in a public scEool. Its pur pose is to improve the economic and social standing of adults in the community. Persons who enrol! may learn to read and jyriie, or they may review Eng lish, ma.h, social studies, or science. However, the main ob jective is to raise adults to the educational level required for passisg the high school equiv alency test. What is the High School Equivalency Program? It is a program whereby an adult who did not complete his high school education may take a series of tes.s to demonstrate his gener al education competence and be awarded a certificate recog nized and generally accepted as equivalent to a high school dip loma. The equivalency diploma is issued by the Sta e Depart ment of Public Instruction. If you are 18 years old or older and would like to enroll in an Adult Basic Education Class, you are invited to attend this meeting Monday night. February 3.
