sulted in his dismissal. Because
the student likes long-hair mus
ic. disdains a crew haircut, is
willing to play female roles in
school plays and is generally a
sensitive boy, he is harshly ac
cused of unnatural relations.
In his innocence and loneliness
he begins to doubt himself.
When he despera ely tried to
asse-t his "manhood” with a
repulsive town tart, failure
drives him nearly to suicide.
The wife of the house-master,
who leads the brutal ostracism
of the boy, does her best to save
the youngster frcm his school-
mates’ fu-y, from her husband’s
persecution, and from his fath
er’s rage. In the end she offe-s
to do the one tthing that can re
store the boy to some hope for
the fu ure, because of his gen
uine affection for her.
Jim Roberts will have the im

sensitive teen-age student. Dan
