Ardell Sink, for merly of West Jefferson and Laurinburg, North Carolina is now President and General Man ager of Burnsville Broadcast- Inc., which operates the local station Mrs. Sink is now Vice President, Secretary and Treas urer of Burnsville Broadcasting. Sink is a native of Davidson County, North Carolina and a graduate of High Point College with a degree in Business Ad ministration. He was with WBUY RADIO. Lexington, N. C., for 4 years and for 9 years was General Manager of Radio Station WKSK. West Jefferson. For the past year, Sink was Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Curtis Stations, a group of 4 North Carolina Radio Stations based in Laurinburg, N. C. Sink is a former President of the Ashe County Chamber of Commerce, the West Jefferson Rotary Club, and Director of the NW North Carolina Development Associa tion. The Sinks have 3 children and now reside on . SHEPHERD WAY, in Burnsville. Sink announced that Nick Lovin of Rockingham, North Carolina has been named Assist ant Manager of WKYK and Ted Boys worth, Chief Engineer. The trout are practically jump ing out of the water. The fii*st weeks of the moun tain trout season is history de spite inclement weather condi tions during the first few days of fishing. However the anglers braved the rains and came out to wade their favorite streams. Mr. Lee Boone, manager of the Mt. Mitchell Wildlife Com mission reports that for the last two weeks of trout season the the sixth president of Western Carolina University. As evidence of the good fish ing conditions, Calvin Wilson of Rt. 5, Burnsville caught these two large brown trout in the South Toe River near Carolina Hemlock last week. S. earthi sat elite Hugh Tomerlin To Speak At Annual Chambet Os Commerce Dinner Mr. Hugh M. Tomberlin will be the guest speaker at the Yancey County Chamber of Commerce annual dinner to be held at East Yancey High Schcjl April 22 at 7:00 p. m. in the cafe.eria. Mr. Tomberlin of Asheville, a former resident of Yancey Coun ty received his B. S. Degree from Western Carolina College and his M. A. at University of North Carolina. He later did additional graduate work at the University. During Mr. Tomberlin’s Col lege years he w-as President of Men's Government and Mono gram Club, President of the Senior class, and received Var sity Letters in Football, Basket ball, Baseball and Track. Entered Military Service in 1942 and received direct com mission as second Lieutenant, U. S. Army. He was later pro moted to rank of Capta'n and assigned to Department of State, Middle East Theatre, Economic Intelligence. He has served as principal of several schools including Enka High School which was the first public county high school in Western North Carolina to be accredited by Southern Associa tion of Colleges and Schools. Spruce Pine Men Jaded According to Deputy Sheriff Fred Robinson, Ralph Butner, Cecil Butner and Frank Reese were arrested April 14th for im proper use of alcoholic beverag es. Ralph Butner of Rt. t. Spruce Pine was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. The other two men were jailed for public drunken ness. Robinson also reports that Peggy O’Nell Bennett, of Erwin, , Tenn., was arrested and charged with driving intoxicated last week-end. At this time Ra’ph Butner Is still being held in Yancey County Jail. Cecil Butner and Took Reese have been released.
