Scorsone, a former resi dent of Asheville, was a 1965 graduate of Lee Edwards Hi gh School. He joined the Marines after : graduation and had served in Vietnam for the past 11 months with the 3rd Marine Div i s ion, Ist Battalion. Bucha nan, son of Mrs. Letitia S. Hen sley, Burnsville, N.C. , was promoted to Army staff sergeant May 13 while assigned to the 3 id Infantry Division near Aschaffai burg, Germany. Staff Sgt. Buchanan is a radio team chief in Headquarters Company of the division's 3rd Brigade. His father, Nellis Buchanan, lives on Route 1, Marion. His wife, Ingeborg, is with him in Germany. ★ GEINHAUSEN, GERMANY.. Fir st Sergeant Ted Evans, son of Mt and Mrs. Carl M. Evans, Route!, Burnsville, N. C. received the Army Commendation Medal Ap ril 23 near Gelnhausen, t-rermaity Sgt. Evans received the award for heroism in action while en gaged in ground operations aga inst a hostile force during his last assignment in Vietnam. The Army Commendation Me dal is awarded to personnel who while serving with the Army di stinguish themselves by heroism, meritorious achievement or me ritorious service. The medal was established by the Secretary of War on Dec. 18, 1945. The sergeant entered the Ar my in July 1948 and completed basic training at Ft. Jackson in S. C. His wife, Roswitha, is with him in Germany. ★ VIETNAM—Army Sergeant First Class James G. Fox, son of Mrs. Zilla A. Fox, Route 3 Burnsville, N.C. , received the Purple Heart May 8 near Pleiki, Vietnam. He is a firing battery chief in Battery A, 6th Battalion of (he 4th Infantry Division's 291 h Artillery. His wife, Edith, lives on Rt. 3, Leicester. ★ VlETNAM..Technical Ser geant Marvin A. Lovelace, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin C. Lov elace of 2512 Denver Drive, Gr eensboro, N. C., is on duty at Tuy Hoa AB, Vietnam. Sergeant Lovelace, an elec tronic equipment technician, is assigned to a unit of the Pacific Air Forces. He previously ser ved at Nellis AFB, Nevada. The sygeant is a graduate of Central High School, Ruthe rfordton, N.C. His wife, Barbara, is the da ughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nell G. Peterson of Burnsville, N. C. ★ 1 EXAS—Airman First Class Bobby L. Willis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Willis of Rt. 2, Burns ville, N.C., has graduated from a IJ.S. Air Force Technical Sch ool at Sheppard AFB/Texas. He was trained as an air frei ght specialist and assigned to a unit of the Pacific Air Forces at Cam Ranh Bay AB, Vietnam. The airman is a 1964 graduUe of East Yancey High School.
