PTAD iscusses Need For Improvements At aP.T, A. meeting at the Burnsville Elementary School this week, the parents and school officials held an animated discussion concern - ing school conditions and the immediate need for improve ment in many areas. A committee consisting of . six members was organized to work on the problems,some of which are urgent. The build ing which presently houses the Burnsville Elementary School is the oldest school building in the county and it deterior ates steadily with age. The committee chairman is Bill Hess. Other members are as follows: Dr. Garland Dick Bailey, EdJHunter, John Mattox and Sarah Hensley. PTA Will Hold Fair The South Toe Elemen - tary School PTA is getting ready to hold a Christmas lair on Saturday, December 13 from Ito9p. m. in the school's lunchroom. There will be gifts for the young and the not - so young for sale, cookies and other baked goods, and Christ mas decorations and wreaths. The school's lunchroom staff will have a snack bar. Other booths will be run by the P. T. A., Estatoe Baptist Church, White Oak Commu nity Club, Arthur Morg a n School, White Oak Baptist Church, South Toe Youth Council, and Girl Scout Hoop 19. Several booths will be run by individuals. Proceeds of the fair will be divided between the South Toe Elementary School( 25%) and the "owners" of the booths (75%). The school will use it's money toward improvements needed for ac creditation; the other groups or individuals will use their profits as they see fit. Savings Bond and Freedom Share sales in North Carolina for January-October amounted to $52,562,144... This represents 88. 2 percent of the State's 1969 dollar quota of $59,600,000. Sales for the month of October amounted to $5,388,427. Savings Bond sales in Yan cey County were $2,515.00 for October. For the year, cumulative sales amounted to $53,591.00 which is 128.5 percent of the county's 1969 dollar quota, according to Amey Fooc, volunteer chair man of the savings bond pro gram in Yancey County.
