Autxey was selected as Officer Instructor - Os - The Month at the U.S. Army Engin eer School, Fort Belvoir, Va . CW3 Autrey, son of Mr. and Mis. Ramon Autrey of Rt. 5, Burnsville, is an instructor Q of maintenance managem e n t in the Construction Equipment Division of the School's De - partment of Mechanical and Technical Equipment. He was selected from the more than 1,400 instructors Ihere at the school and received a letter of commendation citing him for his noteworthy performance, a performance which contributed greatly to the Engineer Schools teaching mission. Selections for the honor of Instructor-of-the-Month are based on such criteria as hours of instruction performed, ob servations by staff representa - tives, staff evaluation boards and surveys of students. In - structors are chosen from three categories: officer, enlisted personnel, and Dept, of the Ar my civilian instructors from the school's three teaching depart ments. Prior to his assignment at the school, Mr. Autrey serv ed with the 35th Engineer Group in Vietnam. His service avards include the Bronze Star M edal with Oak Leaf Cluster and the ©dD®ja©»inr. Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Burdette Johnson of Bumsvillq N.C., graduated from the 22-. week Aviation Electrician' s Mate School at the Naval Air Technical Training Center at Jacksonville, Florida. ★ Earl L. McPeters Jr., whose parents live on Route 6,Bums - ville, N.C., was promoted to Armv specialist four near Long Binh, Vietnam, where he is serving with the 199th Light Infantry Brigade. Spec. Mcr’eters, an infan tryman in Company A, sth Bat talion of the brigade's 12th In fantry, entered the Army in February, 1969, completed his basjic training at Fort Bragg, N C. , and was last stationed at Ft. McClellan, Ala. He holds the Combat Infantryman Badge. The 20-year-old soldier is a 1967 graduate of East Yancey High School. J ★ U.S.Air Force Technical Sergeant Robert B. Sparks, son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Sparks of Route 2, Burnsville, is on duty at Tan Son Nhut Viet nam. Sergeant Sparks, a commu nications technician, is with a unit of the Air Force Com munications Service which pro vides global communicat i o ns and air traffic control for the USAF. He is a veteran of the Korean War. The sergeant is a 1952 gra duate of Micaville High School His wife, Evelyn, is the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Sut ton of Route 4, Mount Oliver N. Carolina. \
