The acci dent took place Saturday at 3:00 a. m. He was a 1968 grad uate of East Yancey High Schod and was employed in a Textile plant at Valdese. Surviving are the Mr. and Mrs. Shelby Carroll, three sisters, Mrs. Bob Sinxnxs of Woodlawn, Wash., Mb. Don Hus kins of Morganton, and Mrs. Norman Bagwell of Drexel;one brother, Charles Ray Carroll of Route 5, Burnsville; the maternal grandparents, Mr.and Mrs. J. R. Burgin of Burnsville, and the paternal grandmother Mrs. John B. Carroll of Bums - ville. Funeral Services were held Monday at 2:00 p. m. intheMt Mitchell Baptist Church. Rev. Charles Willis and Rev. Alvin Jones officiated. Burial was in the Carxoway Cemetery. WILL PRICE Will Price, 73, died at his home near Burnsville on Wed nesday evening after a long ill ness. Mr. Price was a lifelong resident of Yancey County and a retired merchant. Surviving are the wife, Eu la Harris ftice; a daughter, Mrs. Lee Thompson; a Homer Price - all of Busnsvile; a sister, Mrs. Forrest Fortner, Burnsville; a brother, Mr.Hugi Price of Marion, N.C.; four grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday at 2:00 p. m. in the Cha pel of Holcombe Brothers Fu neral Home. The Rev. Cecil Higgins, Rev. Frances Radford and Dr. Fred S. Atwater of ficiated and burial was in the Honeycutt Cemetery. Pall bearers were Tate Fortner ,Mur ray and Clyde Styles, Ralph and Charles Black, Howard Sil ver, Ralph Thompson and Dan Honeycutt. ‘SOL HARRIS Sol Harris, 64, of Burns ville died in a local hospital cn Sunday afternoon after a long illness. He was a lifelong resi dent of Yancey County and had been associated with 8.8. Pen - land Lumber Company for the past 30 years. Surviving are the wife, Le na Penland Harris; three daugh ters, Mrs. Stewart Taylor of Wichita Falls, Texas, Mrs Sam * Evans, Charlotte and Mrs. Jim my Hensley of Granite Falls; * three sons, Harold, Charles and, Lane Harris of Burnsville; two sisters, Mrs. Brodus Bailey of Marion, N. C., and Ms. Lee I Riddle ox Burnsville; two bio - there, Frank and Claude Harris of Burnsville; 12 grandchildren Funeral Services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the Boba*B.Cr«|k Baptist Cfc. Rey. Robert Melvin officiated and burial was in the Carro way Cemetery. Pallbearers were Wesley Roberts, Herman Mason, Ken neth Robertson, Ben Riddle gar Hensley, Virgis Anglin. The meeting was announced by G. D. Bailey, President of the Yancey County Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Bailey said Bob Goforth - and Tom Jones, xepreseirtatfces of the North Carolina Board of THE YANCEY RECORD Conservation and Development jfC &D) will present the pro - gram. Their presentations vdll include explanations -of two new C G D programs: The In dustrial Developmetk Team and The Governor's Award P*o -1 gram, both of which were de vised to help smaller commu - nities better prepare ttenseVes for industry. According to Mr. Bailey, the new programs were deve - APRIL 2, 1970 lo£ed to give smaller -commu nities an opportunity to 00m - pete with larger areas for industry. They will tend to equalize and standardize indus trial development programs statewide.
