Revival To Begin At Newdale Presbyterian Church Rev. W. Ernest Extension Worker with Presby terian churches in Avery, Yan cey and Mitchell be holding a revival at the Newdale Presbyterian Church beginning at 7:30 p. m. Sunday 'Hippie’ Minister Speaks At Ridgecrest Conferences RIDGECREST ,N.C. —Re vival fires broke out throughout Ridgecrest Baptist Assembly as Arthur Blessitt, minister to the hippies on Sunset Strip in Los Angeles, electrified some 3,000 persons with his preach ing during the opening week of conferences. Three conferences, the church recreation leadership conference, a leaderlab for youth, and church library con ference, were held June Il ls at the assembly. Blessitt spoke the language of youth. His words were hifl mod, but direct. " Few times in all the history of the assem bly has the Holy Spirit moved so many persons to be come Christians and to witness their Christian faith to others, " the spokesmen said. As the invitations were giv en, hundreds of young people and adults made their way to the front of Spilman Auditori - um to make decisions for Christ The colorful young evange list gave orgnge stickers out to persons at the conferences to distribute to gasoline st a tion attendants, barijers, grocers and everyone they came in contact JVC Homemakers Are Celebrating Their 50th Year The end of June is the half way mark in the 50th Anniver sary Celebration of the N. C. Extension Homemakers Organ ization. Some clubs have re ported special activities and other clubs have special acti vities in the planning stage. Burnsville Homemakers star ted back in March with Old Fashioned Quilting parties Spe cial Leader reports on old fash ioned recipes, Book reviews cn happenings of yesteryear, etc. Brush Creek Homemakers have sponsored a fashion show for members who do home sew ing and for 40H Club girls who are enrolled in clothing projects; Old fashioned family nighlt are planned once a month with soft ball, horse shoe pitching, vol ley ball, etc., and good old fashioned food. Newdale homemakers spon- Meeting Held The regular meeting of the Burnsville Homemakers Club will be held on Friday, June 19, at 2:00 p. m. at the home of Mrs. David ° v with Helene Moo* night, June 21 through Friday night, June 26. Mr. Wilson, a graduate of King College in Bristol, Tenn, and Union Theological Semin ary, Ric.. -iond, Va., is a native of Mecklenburg County. with. More than 10,000 tracts were given out by young people attending the conferences to persons in the Ridgecrest area. Named "Minister of Suns et Strip" by his young flock—hip pies, dop>e addicts, motorcycle riders, teenyboppers and top less dancers—Blessitt is under taking his walk to emphasize the need for a spiritual awak - ening in America. Fourteen homemakers are now trained in making draper ies for home decorating. Clubs represented were: Brush Creek, Newdale, Burnsville. Five non club members attended. Miss Wanda Edwards, Public Health Nurse, will present a program, "Missions In Mental Health", at the June meeting of the Extension Homema k ers Clubs. He was behind the movement which resulted in building the Newdale Presby - terian Church, which replaced the old wooden building built in 1899.
