Mr. Hayes then rend red a vocal selection, If I Loved You. Both were ac - companied on the piano by Mr Charlie Boone. Mrs. Dover Fouts, program leader for the meeting, stated that religious emphasis was the theme for the program. She Head Start Program Plans Completed Plans for the Summer Head Start program are complete in the four county area accordiig to Mrs. Lorese Greene, Head Start Director. All Centas will open June 15th at 8:30 in Yan cey County. A total of 525 children will attend in the four counties. Centers in Yancey County are located at Bald Creek, Mi caville, Burnsville, Pensacola and South Toe Schools. Miss Ethel Boone, School Su pervisor, is Summer Head Start Director. School buses will operate and should your child miss the bus the first day please contact the teachers in your area. Summer Head Start is fun - ded through the Department of Health, Education and Welfare and Is a child development pro gram, stressing nutrition, edu- then introduced Mrs. Ralph Jacks, the speaker. Mrs. Jacks showed a most inspiring series of slides with a commentary based on religious influence in literature. The meeting was adjourned to meet again in September. The program also provides physical examinations, dental evalua - tions, and treatment duripg the six week program with follow up care through December for those involved in the pro gram. All children will be screened for heart defects by the four-county Heart Sounds Screening Program. Volunteer are needed for this program as well as outings and trips the children take. Parents and any others with an interest in children should contact Miss Boone ~ at the Board of Education if they care to volunteer. Parents and friends are urged to visit the centers and observe the pro gram at any time.
