Couple United In Holy Matrimony ♦ ♦.*.< * *» .. V .♦ *« Miss Barbara Ann Brewer became the bride of Elmer Phillip Hendrix on June 14, 1970 at 4:00 p. m. in the Newdale Presbyterian Chinch, Burnsville. Rev. Bert Styles conducted the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton C. Brewer of Route 2, Burnsville. Mr. Hendrix is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Clifton Hend ' rix of Route 1, Advance, N. C. The bride, given in mar riage by her father, wore a gown of white linen with the empire waist, three - quarter length sleeves, and train ac cented by Venice lace appli - ques. It was designed with an "A" line skirt and scoop neck line. The cathedral train was de tachable and fell from the waistline. The veil of illusion had a Venetian lace crown accented with pearls and sequins. The bride carried a white Bible topped with white rosebuds and daisies. Mrs. Stephen Brewer of Marion, N.C,, sister -in -law of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Donald Moser of Cullowhee,N. C.; Mrs. Woodrow Davis of Lake Junaluska, N.C.; and Mss Rita Gay Miller of C. The matron of honor and the bridesmaids all wore 11 A " line full-length gowns of apple green embossed pique and the matching headpieces consisting of a bow of the same materi - al as the gown and illusion. A cascade bouquet of yellow and white daisies was carried by each. Bryson Promoted In Shelby The Shelby Board of Educa tion named its first assistant superintendent of education,pro moting Shelby Junior High School principal, HaleT. Bry son to the new position. The board acted on the re commendation of Superinten - dent Malcom Brown who said Bryson will work "in all areas until we zero in on specific areas. C., father of the groom, served as Best Man Ushers were Mr. David Clifton Hendrix of Advance, brother of the groom; Mr. John Bar nett of Hendersonville. N. C. and Mr. Randy Bailey of Ad vance. The bride's mother wore a powder-blue sheath of feather weight knit with matching ac cessories and a corsage ofwbite rosebuds. The bridegroom's mother em 11 duties. ] Bryson, who was graduated from Burnsville High School, taught in Raleigh for two years before coming to Shelby as principal at Morgan School. Thurman O'Mara di rected the wedding, following which a reception was held in the Newdale Presbyterian So - cial Hall given by the bride's parents. Presiding at the guest book was Mss. W. T. Buxton, v. Assisting at die reception were Mrs. J. V. Reynolds,Ms. James Gilley and Mrs. Doris Robin - son. Program of Music at the wedding was by Mr. Jerry Whi taker of Mocksville, N.C. Miss Benita Brewer of Ma rion, N.C. served her aunt as flower girl. She carried a bas ket of daisies and was dressed in white. Mark O'Mara of Ad vance, cousin of the groom, was ring bearer. The bride is a graduate of East Yancey High School, has a BS degree in Education from Western Carolina University & is presently employed as a teacher by the Haywood Coun - ty School System in Waynes - ville. The bridegroom is a graduate of Davie County High School inMockwille and is presently a senior at West em Carolina University majoriqg in Business Administration.
