THE YANCEY RECORD PAGE 20 LEGAL NOTICE TOWN OF BURNSVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA NOTICE OF SPECIALELECTICN NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a special election will bfe held in the Town of Burnsville, North Carolina, on the Bth day of September, 1970, for the purpose of submitting the ques tion whether the qualified vo ters of said Town shall approve the indebtedness to be incurred by the issuance of bonds of said Town of the maximum princi pal amouht of $230,000 to fi - nance the improvement and enlargement of the system main tained by thp Town to provide a supply of Water to said Town and its inhabitants by the con struction of abater reservoir together with pie necessary wa ter transmissioh mains includ ing the acquisition and install ation of the equipment, mach inery and apparatus required for the use of such reservoir as part of the Town's water system and the acquisition of the ne cessary lands or rights-in-land, and a tax to be levied for the payment thereof! and also the bond ordinance anopted bythe Board of Commissioners of said Town on July 31st\ 1970,which authorizes the issuance of said bonds for such purpose and the levy of such tax. \ The ballots to be\used at said election shall contain the words "FOR the ordinance auth orizing $230,000 of bonds /to finance the improvement and enlargement of the system main tained by the Town to provide , a supply of water to said Town and its inhabitants by the con struction of a water reservoir together with the ne c essary water transmission mains in cluding the acquisition and installation of the equipm e n$ machinery and apparatus re - quired for the use of such re - servoir as part of the Town's water system and the acquisi tion of the necessary lands or rights-in-land and a tax there for" and the words "AGAINST the ordinance authorizing $230,000 of bonds to finance the improvement and enlarge ment of the system maintained by the Town to provide a sup ply of water to said Town and its inhabitants by the construo tion of a water reservoir to gether with the necessary wrter transmission mains including the acquisition and installa - tion of the equipment,mach inery and apparatus requi red for the use of such reservoir as part of the Town's water sys tem and the acquisition of the necessary lands or rights- in land and a tax therefor" with squares beside the words/'FOR" and "AGAINST" in one of which squares the voter may make an (X) mark to indicate his choice. In the event that the quali fied voters approve the indebt edness to be incurred by the issuance of said bonds and the tax therefor and said ordnance* the bonds authorized by said ordinance will be issued for the purpose stated and an an - nual tax sufficient to pay the principal of and interest cn said bonds will be levied. AUGUST "(S, 1970* LEGAL NOTICE The polls for said election will open at the hour of 6:30 o'clock, A.M., and will close at the hour of S:3O o'clock, P. M., (Eastern Daylight Sav ing Time). The polling place for said election shall be the usual polling place in the Town of Burnsville, namely: The Town Hall. The Board of Commission - ers has appointed John Wil son to act as Registrar and Mrs. Annie Bennett and Phil lip C. Ray to act as Judges of Election for said elect ion. The Registrar will be furnished with the registration book used at the last regular election held in the Town of Bumsville(beiig the regular municipal election held on May 6th, lyt>9) and he will revise the registration book so that it will show an ac curate list of the electors pre - viously registered in the Town and still residing therein, with out requiring such electors to register anew. The Registrar will keep the registration book open for the Registration of new electors on each day (Sundays excepted) for the period begin ning Friday, the 2,lst day of August, 1970 and ehding on Friday, the 28th day btf August* 1970. The book will be kept open on each Saturday duriig such period from 9 o'clock, A. M., until 9 o'clock, P. Section 3. In order to pro vide funds for such purpose, in addition to any funds which may be madlt available for such purpose rtom any other source, bonds of the Town of Burnsville are hereby author - ized and shall be i»ued pur suant to The Municipal Fi nance Act, 1921, of North Carolina. A statement of the debt of said Town has been filed with the Town Clerk of said Town, as required by said Act, and is open to public in spection. Section 6. This ordinance shall take effect when approved by the voters of said Town at an election to be called and held as provided in said Act.
