I || ago. Many of us attended the School Board meeting on Friday evening, August 28,Y\ t BB B 1970 and heard the complaints of the local lunchroom managers who attended W'* u ' 'T f}/ M the meeting. It is understandable that a period of adjustment would be * necessary to conform to a new set-uo, however, the complaints which the V? R managers voiced do not seem to be grounds for rescinding the decision to " * I ■ centralize the lunchroom system in Yancey County Schools. /rs ■ I Surely you are aware of the distinct advantages of a centralized lunchroom ■ system such as quantity buying, well-planned, nutrj"lous meals, proper organ- . * M I ixation, supervision of personnel and co-ordination of the total program, fl not withstanding a biu of appropriate reporting by local lunchroom managers. ' I I In the most recent survey of Yancey County Schools, dated September, 196°, j I R it was pointed out (p. 62) "that the school food'service is not centrali&rfd ' 9 and is without trained supervision at the central level." We feel that the i/y R students—and parents— would be fortunate to have, their meals at school ,/ \ / 9 planned and the system directed by a graduate home economist. Your recent y? • . _u. 4/ action in decentralizing the lunchroom system, it really gets started, R is a serious step backward and will hamper the progress and improvement of H Yancey County Schools.
