This question raised each year when the coun ty is faced with the job of getting organized for the drive, has been answered with an emphatic "yes" by numerous concerned citizens who are in terested in making Yancey County a better place in which to live and raise a family. This discussion was led by club president Mack B. Ray, who during the previous week had tentatively agreed to accept the position as chairman of the annual drive, provided that sufficient support was eviden ced by the club and others to give reasonable promise of a successful campaign. The reaction to Ray's pre sentation of the UF problem in Yancey County in recent years was holehearted, unanimous support for making an all -out effort this year to have a suc cessful fund drive. The victory was the fifth straight without a loss for the Appalachian Conference Pan thers. The winners, who tot a led 28 first downs and 406 yards rushing, scored their final touchdown on a 30-yard pass from Kenny Winters to Jim Norris. Rodney Bishop scored two two-point conversions on runs. Asheville scored twice in the fourth period on Lonnie Ri vers' 45-yard run with an in tercepted pass and a 60- yard touchdown pass from Leonard Payne to Russell Gentry.
