creased tremendously with the
use of new washing detergents,

cosmetics, pesticides, and
paint products.

age suffer most from poisoning.

cines locked up. The kitchen
and bathroom are the most dan
gerous rooms in the house. The
cleaning and dmg products
should be kept in their own
containers, with the labels
well-secured. Read label and
administer medicines in a
well-lighted room.
Screw caps on extra tight
of bottles containing poisons.
Discard old prescriptions, but
not where children or pets can
find them in the garbage can..
Don't use cleaning fluids with
out good ventilation, and if
you are using poisonous sub -
stances, with your child in the
room, don't leave him alone
to answer the telephone orthe
door.
If your child does touch poi
son, wash him thoroughly with
soap and water. If you find
that he has swallowed aspirin,
shampoo, kerosene, or some
other poisonous substance,take
him immediately to a doctor
or to the hospital, and bring
along the bottle of what you
think he ate or drank. If no
help is available, the best home
remedy for swallowed poison is
to administer a drink of 2 parts
