died Monday morning in a
Rock Hill, S.C. hospital after
a long illness.

CORA BAILEY
Mrs. Cora Peterson Bailey,
94, of Route 1, Burnsville died
at her home Monday night.
Mrs. Bailey was bom March
29, 1877 and celebrated her
94th birthday Monday. She tes
been a member of Borings Cha
pel Methodist Church for se -
venty five years.
She is survived by two daugh
ters, Mrs. Sam Adkins of Er
win, Tennessee and Mrs. John
Byrd of Route 1, Burnsville
with whom she made herhome.
Also surviving are seven grand
children and fifteen great graid
children.
Funeral services were held
at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in
the Chapel of Holcombe Bro
thers Funeral Home, The Rev.
Howard Buchanan and the Rev.
Troy Me Curry officiated and
burial was in the Jacks Creek
Baptist Church Cemetery.
NEALIE LEDFORD
Nealie Ledford, 59,0 f the
little Creek Community died
in an Asheville hospital Tues
day morning after a short ill
ness. A lifelong resident of
Yancey County, a farmer and
a former school teacher.
Surviving are the wife, Lot
tie Honeycutt Ledford; four
daughters. Misses Nina Belle,
Valerie, and Laura Lee of the
home and Mrs. Bill Hughes of ’
Erwin, Tenn.; three sons,Ter- t
ry Baxter, Stanley and Stevie
Le dford all of the home; the
mother, Mrs. Harriett Ledford
of Burnsville Route 4; 3 grand
children.
Funeral services will be held
Thursday at 2:00 p. m. in the
little Creek Holiness Church.
Revs; Elbert Franklin and De
\£>n Randolph will officiate
and burial will be in the fami
ly cemetery.
CHARLES ALLEN
Charles W. Allen, 82, of
the Banks Creek Community
died Friday morning in a Burns
ville hospital after a long ill
ness.
He was a lifelong resident
of Yancey County and a retired
farmer.
Surviving are the widow,Ms«
Margaret Boone Allen; a son,
Charles Allen Jr, of Alto,
two brothers, George W. of
California and E. Y, Allen of
Candler; a sister, Mrs. Nell
Craig of California; apd three
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
at 2:30 p. m. Sunday in Banks
Creek Union Chinch of which
he was a member. The Rev.
Harry Culbertson Jr. officiated
and burial was in the All en
Family cemetery.
