Boy Scouts Have Picnic At Black Mountain Campground
Boy Stoats Receive Badges Daring Oeting

Monday night, May 24, the
Boy Scouts from troop 502 held
a picnic at Black Mountain
C ampground. There were about
75 to 100 family members and
friends attending the picnic.
In the father and son soft
ball game, the fathers used a
late inning rally to defeat their
sons by a score of 8 to 2.
The highlight of the even
ing was three members of the
troop who received their Ten
derfoot Badges. They were
Jeff Bailey, Timmy Parker,
and Eddie Thomas.
Ernie Howard received three
Merit Badges: Personal Fitness,
Citizenship in die Nation, and
Coin Collecting. Mark Bled-
soe received the Atomic Ener
gy Merit Badge.
The final awards were given
to eight scouts who received the
Paul Bunyan Axmanship award.
Brad Ragan Inc. Expands
Brad Ragan, Inc. has pur
chased the large truck and off
the-road tire retreading and
replacement operations of
American Tire Company, the
Atlanta, Georgia based sub
sidiary of Uniroyal, Inc. This
was announced today by Brad
ley E. Ragan, president, who
indicated that the transact!®
was made for an undisclosed
amount of cash.
This award is given for out
standing axmanship.
„ In all, everyone enjoyed the
evening and entertainment of
the picnic.
Under terms of the agree
ment, Brad Ragan,lnc. has
purchased tire retreading equip
ment horn American and has
assumed a lease on a substan
tial portion of the Uniroyal
subsidiary's facility in Atlanta,
Mr. Ragan reported.He added
that the purchase will enable
Brad Ragan to substantially
augment the sales and service
of large tires throughout the
state.
