Ron Eubanks 682-2700 We now have a good start toward our Fire Depart m e nt thanks to all the cooperadcn from everyone during the Blue grass Festival. We would like to say a very special thank you to The Yancey Record and to W. K. Y. K. for their support in helping to promote the fes tival. Winners of the Amateur Band Contest Friday night were Ist Places Motor City Blue - grass Boys from Detroit, Mich.; 2nd Place: Ralph Lewis and The Piney Mountain Boys from Asheville; 3rd Place: Jennie Vance and The Linville River Boys from Croesnore. There was lots of good entertainment all weekend. The competi - tion Friday night made the judges decision extremely dif ficult. However, we think tie judges made an excellent de cision and we agreed with them one hundred percent in their decision. Saturday night the winneis of the Band Contest played again and the highlight of the evening was Jim and Jess and The Virginia Boys from the Grand Ole Opry. As usual Jim and Jess seem to out perform themselves. The variety of their performance was enthus iastically accepted by the au dience. We think every one who attended the festival thoroughly enjoyed themselves and would like to see more of Pensacola Pipeline this type of entertainment in our area. ** Clyde Bagwell was dischar ged from Mission Hospital in Asheville last Friday morning. ** Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wilsodk daughter, Lucille Cates from Asheville visited them over the weekend. ** Mrs. Wade McMahan under went surgery last week in St. Joseph's Hospital in Asheville. ** The Laurel Branch Baptist Church is having a revival this Chosen For Girls State Suzanne Banks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hobert Banks of Route 3, Burnsville will at tend Girls State from June 20 through 26.
