ALVIN HENSLEY
Alvin Hensley, 63, of the
Cane River Community died
unexpectedly at his home on
Sunday night. A IfhnceyCoun
ty native, he was employed
as foreman for Wilson Tree
Company for the past 20 years.
Surviving are the wife/ivis
Smith Hensley; one daughter
Mrs. David Boone, Burnsville;
two sons, Ben Lee Hensley of
Burnsville and Jimmy Hensley
of Granite Falls, N.C.; one
brother, Clifford Hensley of
Weaverville; 4 grandchildren
Funeral services were held
Tuesday at 2:30 p. m. in the
Cane River Baptist Church of
which he was a Deacon. Revs.
James Lamb and Earl Blanken
ship officiated and burial was
in the church cemetery.
HIRAM RAMSEY
Hiram H. Ramsey, 87, of
Green Mountain died in an
Asheville hospital Friday morn
ing, after a short illness. He
was a native of Yancey County
and a retired merchant.
Surviving are the wife, Sar
ah Whitson Ramsey; four daugh
ters, Mrs. Roger
Fred Hall and Mis. Nell John
son all of Green Mountain and
Mrs. Minnie Winebarger of
T<y Angeles, California; three
sons, Jake of Charleston, S.C.,
Hiram Jr. of Detroit, Mich.,
and John Ramsey of Green
Mountain; one sister, Mrs.Clycfe
Williams of Burnsville; four
teen grandchildren and 17 great
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Sunday at 2:30 p. m. in the
Sacred Heart Catholic Church
in Burnsville. Father Felix Ke
laher officiated and burial
was in McCracken cemetery.

Mrs. Jeanette Hughes, 93,
of Portsmouth, Virginia, a na
tive of Yancey County, died
Monday in Unicoi County
Memorial Hospital, Erwin,
Tennessee.
She was a member of Crab
tree Baptist Church in Yancey
County.
Surviving are four sons,T.S.,
T. R., Frank and Burl Hughes
of Erwin; and two daughters,
Mrs. EarL Hall of Erwin and
Miss Margaret Hughes of Ports
mouth.
Funeral services were held
at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Er
win Memorial Chapel with

1 p.m. in Holcombe Ceme
tery, Burnsville.
