and get some ideas about what
the pageant would be like .The

Tuesday, July 20.
The annual Miss Mayland
Banquet will be held Wednes -
day, July 21, at the Moose
lodge in Mitchell County. Al
though the banquet is a time
of rest and relaxation for the
contestants, they will be in
terviewed by the Judges at
that time.
The statement concludes:
"Miss Mayland, 1971, will
be the biggest and best yet. It
is hoped that all of the many
supporters of the contestants
both senior and junior will at
tend the pageant to help picl
the next Miss Mayland. "

Tour Set For Tomato Fields
Trellised tomatoes are really growing in Yancey County
and the outlook is for a good quality of fruit.
A tour of several growers fields will be conducted on July
20th and 21st. The tour will be open to all farmers and in
terested non-farmers. The schedule for the farm tour is as

Monday evening found the
Wm. Hechart residence the
scene of a lovely dinner party
in honor of Mrs. Hecharts birth
day (we won't tell how many).
Some 14 Cattailers anived to
pay tribute to the lovely little
lady who plays the organ at
the Pensacola Methodist Church
and gives of herself in commu
nity activities.

Most of the Hechart guests
found their way later in the
evening to the community hall
where they attended the show
ing of our first movie "The
Eagle Has Landed."

We hope more of our resi
dents will take advantage of
our community house activi -
ties. Movies on Monday—Bin
go on Wednesday and Card on
Friday. All at 7:30 - You all
come!
'lnternationals’

Spruce Pine an annual stop on
their national tour. The "In
ternationals" big bus and its
load of musicians will arrive
next Wednesday, the morning
of their concert. Their tour
this summer has taken them
from Hollywood to appearances
in Florida, Alabama, Texas,
Colorado, Pennsylvania, Mary
land, Tennessee, andncw,N»th
Carolina.
Their concert is free and
everyone is invited. Last year
when they played and sang to
a full auditorium at Harris Higji
School their audience agreed
with their motto, "The Sweet
est Music this side of Heaven."
